Snake Oil for Bass?

Stumbled across these - http://hoovi.at/deef...oducts/?lang=en - I can sort of see how it would work for a floor mounted 12" guitar combo, but for bass - especially low frequencies with wavelengths > 5 ft (200 hz and down) it's hard to see how it would help

Thoughts?

Other than being optimistically priced, is the concept a sound one for guitar use? And do the shaped bits and cutouts do much that a simple angled perspex screen wouldn't?
It would work, but it's far more complicated than necessary. A simple vertical slat in front of the cone would work, as would a donut. But a foam donut wouldn't work all that well, as too much sound would pass right through it. I'd use plywood. Both work on the principle of diffraction, explained here in section 1-5.

What's wrong with a piece of gaffa tape stuck to the grill cloth in front of the dust cap? That's what I used for years in my guitaring days. Worked a treat to stop the on-axis beaming.

That's what my guitarist uses - black gaffa tape
