The Big Al offers "classic", Fender-like tones that you could never get out of any Stingray, as well as modern, punchy tones that you would expect from a Music Man bass. This is due to the excellent and flexible EQ section (4-band EQ), an active-passive switch and the possibility to switch any of the three pickups on and off seperately via the small black round switches. The neck is also much different from what you would find on a Stringray. Rays have a pretty bulky and thick neck. The Big Al is very nicely shaped, very much like a good 1960s Fender Jazz bass. An absolute joy to play. Setup is nice, action is very low.
