Bass Mutes ?

Hi,
I've had a look through the forums but can't see any topic on mutes,
i apologise if I've missed one.

I've tried different types of sponge and materials to get the 'mute' sound but never seem to get it right.

theres a couple of mutes for sale online, does anyone have any knowledge of them? Preferred one maybe?

of course i could use my palm to mute but I'm interested in adding a 'non fixed' mute.

any help would be welcome .

thanks !

I have one of the same... but they are a bit too muted for my tastes. Sponge pad under the string still works better for my needs.

What sort of sponge have you found success with? I've tried different types of foam but never got it quite right.

I have a fretwrap which is useful but of course it doesn't mute fretted notes so it's quite different from a mute you'd have on the bridge.

I used one of these a while back

Overkill but good fun

  • 1 month later...

The Bassmute is available again - ordered one a month or so ago and got it last week.
