MIJ Fender Jaguar? I think not.....!

So a brand 'new' Japanese Fender Jaguar bass then. Interesting that the neck serial number starts with a T which dates that part to 1994-1995. Didn't MIJ stop in 1997 & CIJ from then on? Plus, therefore also not new. Additionally, wasn't the Jaguar bass not actually introduced until 2006?!?

Looks like a current Jaguar Squier body with replacement chrome knobs, with a could be anything neck bolted on to me.

EDIT; actually T serial numbers did make a return on MIJ instruments between 2007 & 2010, so this could be legit. Can't find anywhere on t'internet another image of that body & neck combination though. Could still be a MIJ neck mated to a Squier body? Anyone got any thoughts?

That body is definitely a squier VM Jaugar, neck could be genuine but then again i think the logos wrong so probably not. We always jump to the conclusion with things like this that someone is trying to make a quick quid, but he may have been no so savvy and been sold this as a Japanese Jaguar. Then again my Mrs does always tell me not to be so trusting of people.

Looks like a VM body with chrome knobs as said. The neck could be from a Japanese Deluxe -

T serial and gold/black logo...

I think that's exactly what it is. Odd, though - what happened to the "proper" body?

His feedback as a buyer is 7ish. I think 4 of them are from places that sell musical equipment and spares. Maybe the neck or body came from one of those. I've messaged him and asked when he bought it and from where, as I cant find the model. No reply as yet though...

The sellers honest enough reply to my questions -

Hi!

Sorry for the late reply...

The bass was originally a squier but I have changed the neck and also the pickup! This was what the bass was originally but I have added upgrades as you can see, the only original part of the bass is the body - http://www.andertons.co.uk/electric-basses/pid20675/cid682/squier-jaguar-bass-special-short-scale-bass-in-candy-apple-red.asp?LGWCODE=20675;56375;2717&utm_source=googlebase&utm_term=0328800509&utm_medium=pricecomp&utm_campaign=GoogleShopping&gclid=CP39i8P6hsUCFRHLtAodxzQABQ

Thanks!

I wish he had said where the neck come from though!
