Could he not recommend a colleague, though..? He must know most, if not all, of the good repair men in the region..? It might be worth asking... ;)

If you can make it as far as Ipswich, I recommend Dave Parker , http://www.guitarlodge.co.uk/ . He's done servicing work for me on Burman and made a good job of it. When I was there, he was rebuilding an original Ampeg flip-top.

Turn around was pretty good - a couple of weeks.
