I should really have posted this before but after taking some photos for a prospective sale, I thought I might as well put them up here.

This is a very early Supernatural session.

It was custom made for me in 1979, (that was John's guess anyway as is was pre serial numbers)
It's the first white bass John made.

Mark King saw it at the Moseley factory and ordered the infamous "Starchild
bass" based on this instrument.

Condition is pretty remarkable for a 35 year old bass.

It has a bound neck and head stock, no Xlr (I couldn't see the point).
Maple wings, (I think ..... the original order was for birds eye maple wings and headstock but I changed my mind at the last minute and went white ).
Ebony fingerboard and pickup facings.
Mother of pearl dots.
Custom P.T.F.E. nut (handmade by John).
Solid brass hex pots.
Hand crafted ebony Pre-amp pots with abalone inserts.
Machine heads are chrome (John and I agreed they were asthetically more pleasing than gold against white).

The neck is perfectly stable with no dead spots.(I've never had to touch the truss rod).

The colour is now a beautiful aged creamy white :)

It's been to John twice in its life for a service and the last one, (could be 10 years ago?) he replaced the onboard preamp for the "new" version.

I gigged with it extensively around the birmingham area from 1980 to 1985.

It has a fantastic finger funk and slap tone as you'd expect from a Jaydee of this pedigree.

The tragedy is I only play 5's now.

Oh......... and it's called "Gandalph"

I hope you like it.

Hmm, that's going to be tricky. Superglue? Anything that attacks that will likely affect the finish. Acetone might be too aggressive, perhaps rubbing alcohol with some gentle heat with a hair dryer to soften? Might want to ask John or Andy what they would do.
