discreet
The usual trade off is I but I new bass and she gets something shiney.apparently tin foil doesn't count though...
Typical! Apparently Tena Lady 'isn't a proper birthday present,' either. There's no pleasing some people. Edit: Yes, I stole this joke from Jimmy Carr. So what? Thpp! Joeyfivebags
Stage four, eBay yet again comes to the rescue as I start to ask sellers questions about said musical item, and ask what they may accept...if I don't get a rise I can then carefully move to stage five (otherwise known as DEFCON 5)
DEFCON is an inverse scale, 5 is the lowest 1 is the highest. tauzero
I now have Mrs Zero inured to the concept of basses possibly costing four-figure sums, though if the first of those figures was anything other than 1, I think I would get Stern Looks, and possibly even Expressions of Disbelief. And if I were to suggest further purchases of any four-figure basses (already having a couple in the house), I think that would move on to Severe Disapproval. We can't afford for me to be wildly extravagant, and although it's nominally my money, we actually operate as a sort of shared pool of money (well, puddle would be closer to it) without having a joint account, hence really expensive purchases get flagged up before proceeding. Less expensive ones operate on the principle of forgiveness being easier to obtain than permission.

chrisanthony1211
DEFCON is an inverse scale, 5 is the lowest 1 is the highest.
The DEFCON system was developed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and unified and specified combatant commands.[2] It prescribes five graduated levels of readiness (or states of alert) for the U.S. military, and increase in severity from DEFCON 5 (least severe) to DEFCON 1 (most severe) to match varying military situations.[1] I think this nicely describes my interactions with Mrs Anthony when buying new gear is on my mind!,,,
