gafbass02 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) With great sadness I have to list this stunning bass for sale, I thought it was mine for life, but sadly it has to go. It's a warmoth walnut body with a custom world guitar parts neck. The pickups are wilkinson and the bridge is a babicz. The pickguard is from the USA. The set up is absolutely spot on, with a buzz free, fast low action and perfect intonation. It sounds very punchy and powerful, a pro playing friend of mine sat for an hour straight with it after picking it up once. He couldn't believe how great it was to play, a real 'slap monster' if you wish it to be. I always meant to upgrade the pickups, but it simply didn't need it!! It's only left the house once and caused the biggest fuss when folks saw it! It really does sound massive through my bass rig. It's not perfect, although all the issues are VERY minor: There are screw holes from the old bridge visible under the bridge overhang ('Babicz' logo) if you look for them, there are unused through body stringing ferrules should you wish to switch to a string through bridge, and two tiny, pin prick marks on the back. There is a wonky string retainer and one of the pickup screws is snapped, and the block inlays aren't the neatest I've ever seen. The weight is pretty heavy at 11lbs There is also an unused side jack fitted if you wished to add a preamp. That's the small negatives for the sake of honesty. The actuality is that it's an utterly jaw dropping, stunning instrument that looks, and plays, and sounds like a dream. I took hours and hours assembling and setting up and tweaking it, mainly on the set up, to make it play as well as it looks like it should!! It feels and looks like a four figure boutique bass. I'm after £500 Ono. Offers are welcome. (Collected only, I can't post) from or near to Cheltenham, I cannot post this, I don't have sufficient packaging I'm afraid. NO trades, if I didn't need the cash this would NEVER be up for sale It used to be fretless, looks good with no pickguard too A video of it as a fretless http://youtu.be/4v1u7f3HqOA Edited January 8, 2015 by gafbass02
Dolando Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 That's stunning! I have 2 warmoth basses and I'm sure that will sound and play at least as good as it looks. I wish I had the money!
TorVic Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Lovely! Is the fretted neck different from the fretless one or is it converted?
gafbass02 Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 Thanks, yeah, different neck. The fretless one is gone now.
flippyfloop Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Too heavy for me but I really love the look of this. Makes me wanna build something in the new year.
gafbass02 Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 Thanks, it is quite weighty, I'll include a comfort strap in the price!
bigbassfoot Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Would you swap this for a orange 2x15 or iMac
bigbassfoot Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Would you swap this for a vintage orange 2x15 or an imac
gafbass02 Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 No trades I'm afraid, if it wasn't a dire cash emergency it wouldn't ever be leaving my side!!

milog Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 It was a long drive (through weather that the Daily Mail said was killing 7 people a second but well worth it). Lovely lovely bass. Very well built - was it really your first? So glad you didn't end up splitting it. Many thanks....good cuppa too
