Very jealous! the Delanos in the VM4 I tried were in both active and passive mode the nicest pickups I think I've ever heard!
The natural finish/maple block neck combo is stunning, congrats B)

Which store did you get that from? I really would like another Sandberg.

That looks lovely. How does it play? I had a go on a Sandberg Blackhawk in my local PMT (one like this http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sandberg_TM4_Nighthawk.html) and found it a bit average. (This is the trip where I walked out with a Squier jazz having tried it against a USA Fender one. I've played two other Sandbergs that were absolute beauties to play though.

It plays great.

Its very different going back to a Jazz for me though from a Spector Rebop.

The range of tones I get out of it are fantastic. Those Delano pickups are really nice too.

Jazz bass wise if compared to both Mexican and US Jazz's I have owned this bass is leagues above them in sound and playability.

I got the bass from Bass Direct. Had a nice trip there today.

Nice looking bass, I see they even 'reverse' the pickups compared to a right-handed instrument. Happy new bass day!

They haven't?

Unless you meant like this?

Don't suppose you tried the lefty Sandberg 5 string they have in White with the twin MM style humbuckers? I'm thinking about selling one of my kidneys for it :P

No I didn't try the 5er. Decided not to even entertain it as it was a touch out of my price range. I do know which one your on about though and it does look nice :)

The Delano pickups are upside down compared to the right-handed model, most instruments with named pickups have the writing readable with the bass oriented bridge at the bottom, neck at the top. On that leftie you'd have to hold the bass neck down to read the name - I suppose it's done because the MM style pickup has asymmetrical mounting ears and the left-handed bass body is shaped and routed as an exact mirror image of the right-handed version.

It would look terrible if the route was the other way for the MM pickup, it would also look wrong to have the writing different way on each pickup too, plus you would end up with a weak E instead of the weak G from the MM pickup that I've never seen on a Stingray anyway, lol
