Hi all,

I've put a link to these on the 'Ebay links' forum; I'm assuming I'm allowed to put one here too.

Got two tasty basses up for sale, both on the 'bay:

Lakland Darryl Jones 4: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=004

Hamer Cruise 2Tek 4: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=004

If I need to move this, no worries, just let me know.

Pete
lovely basses, but i have to question how on earth you got £35 for a parcelforce 48 service? it costs £14.99 for a typical bass!
Depends what you mean by 'typical bass'. Case, no case, insured, not insured?

The values are simply what I got from typing the weights etc into Parcelforce's on-line calculator.

The Lakland costs more to insure - most of the cost is added there.

The case for the Hamer adds a huge amount of extra weight, and a chunk of the cost comes in there.

It's interesting playing with their on-line calculator - most of the extra costs come from properly insuring the bass for the full sale value. Of course, if I send it it uninsured it gets a lot cheaper, but then if it's duffed up or lost on the way the buyer (and I) really have no recourse.

It's much cheaper to ship using services that don't track too, but it opens you up to scammers who say 'I never received it'. Ebay takes their side if you don't have a tracking number and proof of purchase.

Actually Kev, they won't. I won't use them anymore after one of their insurance reps at the Leeds depot admitted repeatedly mis-selling me insurance for several basses I sent with their service. Apparently their T&Cs specify that they won't insure musical instruments.

When I asked them why they wouldn't she had the gall to say that it was because they didn't know that the instrument wasn't damaged when I sent it!

I think £35 is pretty reasonable really - cost of packaging materials, proper insurance, time and travel costs to get the the depot etc.
