99ster
For all you vintage porn fans out there... Here she is - my latest acquisition.... a 100% original 'slab' neck 1962 Fender Precision. She's far from mint condition - but I kinda like her 'voodoo' vibe. Enjoy! Has been in Chicago & Detroit for last 46 years... When? But came to me... yesterday. How? Traded for my mint '66 Precision - which was a wrench to part with, but she wasn't getting played enough because it was so pristine. And I'm not a collector... & I really wanted a 60-62 slab neck Precision that I could play without worrying about it.

99ster
Fantastic Did you but it here or in the USA? Dare I ask how much?
Thanks... I'm loving it lots. It was shipped here from the US a few days ago. How much? Difficult to say as there was no cash involved - it was a swap for a mint '66 Precision, that I had also got via a PX for two 70's Precision. But a similar early '62 bass would cost you a big lump of cash, especially with the original case - the 'choco' cases fetch crazy money on their own these days. OutToPlayJazz
That's a real looker & a bit of history to boot! Is the case original? On the downside it's not as shiny as my 2008 model

Those 'choco' cases are very rare now (& brown with dark orange interior were only used in '62). And it also came with the original Fender leather strap as well... stinson
In due course, could you let us know how the 62 compares tone-wise mainly but also other aspects, to the 66 and the 70's basses. I know this is subjective, but you are probably in a rare category of players that has experienced all these different era fender basses. It is a wonderful bass you have - many congratulations!
+1 I still think my 75 and 78 are the finest P's Ive heard and played. I would love to know what these 'holy grail' basses are all about.
7string
Blimey. Didn't come from the Chicago Music Exchange by any chance did it?? What a store that it is !! Great to hear that this bass was bought to play and not as an investment which will just sit in it's case for the next decade
