Vester designed by Esh question

I know absolutely nothing about it (other than Esh being a well established German high-end bass brand (http://www.esh-bass.com) and Vester being a Far Eastern budget MI brand in the 80s/90s)), but I really quite like it. Think you might have a bit of a find there.

Played a 5 string one of these in translucent honey in a music shop about 15 years ago. Was about 5 or 6 hundred quid at the time new if I remember rightly. Do remember thinking at the time it felt like a more expensive bass than that. Never tried it through an amp though so can't really comment on the sound.

Nice looking bass. It's a Vester Platin 1 apparently - I have no first hand knowledge of the bass but here's a review from a Russian forum - http://forum.guitarplayer.ru/index.php?topic=252971.0 How good's your Russian?!

That's bloody lovely! Never seen this before - although I know the Vester brand (and their historical run-ins with Fender over their logo & the Fender copies it apeared on) and have some GAS for a Vester Argus.

It's good to see a take on a Jazz that's not a slavish copy, Vester had a reputation for decent quality instruments and a Platin I is now on my GAS list!

Jon.

I own one of these too. What I extremely like about it is the playability of the neck.

Just a few more information about it:

- 2 piece canadian ash body
- 2 piece maple neck with a thin mahogany veneer between
- rosewood fingerboard
- birds-eye maple veneer on the headstock
- active/passive mode
- 2 Vester L-N humbucker
- was available in red, blue, ocean and black
- price was about 2100 DM (german currency before the €) which was equal to around 1400 USD or 690 GBP back in 1990

I do not know why Esh cooperated with Vester. All I know is that Vester wanted to penetrate the European market much more by cooperating with Esh.

I bought mine for 300 € a while ago including its hardcase and shipping
