Up for sale is my 2009 MIA Fender Jazz Deluxe in sunburst/Rosewood. Bought new by me in April 2010 it is still in as new condition. This is my go-to bass and just works really well in the mix. 2 pickguards, aged white and tort – looks great with either fitted. OHSC also in excellent condition c/w trussrod tool & case candy included. I'm based in Bolton and am looking for [s]£850 £800 [/s]£750 Will post at buyers expense. Sale only now please as I've got my eye on something - unless you've got a 2012 American jazz in sunburst with a maple neck with cash adjustment my way - nah, didn't think so.

Bassface2K10 has one of these - speaks very highly of it...

'Tis a fantastic bass. Jazz bass sounds on steroids and a really comfortable and lightweight bass. Ideal for anyone looking for a well made and beautiful looking bass that won't give them back problems.

Does this have the active/passive switch?
What's the weight?

Thanks!

Hi xroads - this just runs in active mode as it's a 2009 model. The newer 2010 model has the active/passive switch.

I can't give you an exact weight just yet, i'll weigh it tonight. It feels very light to me and the balance both on and off the strap is perfect. It is a very comfortable bass.

OK just weighed the bass on the digital kitchen scales and it's coming out at 8lb 6oz. For those watching in colour, this converts to 3.8kg.

Sorry for the dopey pm your in Bolton I'm in Manchester - good start. But why oh why would you want to swap for a us standard?? I just don't understand...
Yep - seems strange but i've got serious GAS for a standard US Jazz. I've never owned one and when I started playing bass 33 years ago I started on a Satellite Jazz copy. Always wanted the real thing. When I could afford one, I went for the deluxe as, to me, it was a step on from a standard. I've since acquired a EBMM 25th Anniversary that does the active sound really well (as does the deluxe) so I thought a nice passive Jazz would give me another tonal flavour and it would also fulfill my youthful ambition. I also really like the newer (2008-on) jazzes. The quality seems to be spot-on and I like the high mass bridge etc. A 2012 model with the CS pickups would be even better.

If this doesn't sell, I won't be upset. I is a beautiful instrument. I may rip out the active pre-amp and replace it with an East J-retro deluxe that has the active/passive switch giving me the best of both worlds. I've just bought an East J-Retro to install in my MIM fretless (again the choice of active/passive is a big plus for me).

Still probably doesn't make much sense but in my mind it is completely clear. Well apart from the pre Erniee Ball Stingray that has just gone up for sale, and maybe an ACG or an Overwater............... :D

So you basically want a passive instead of active then?

Have you ever played the mid 90s fender deluxe jazz basses?
Yep - passive or the option of active /passive would be nice. You managed to say in one small sentence what took me a paragraph to say :-) I have been told that I can waffle!

Never tried a mid 90's deluxe. Heard good things though especially about the Suhr pups.

New photos added since we've had some sun in Bolton over the weekend - didn't last long (raining again now) but long enough to take these and get a ride on the bike B)
