1M Rev Log pot - ideally 16mm Alpha

Recommended Posts

Hey!

Can I help things along by admitting that I have no idea what any of that means? Is it something to do with space rockets?

Have a bump on me... Good luck in your search!

I've probably got some in a drawer in my workshop.
Not sure about the 'rev' bit though...
Can I ask what it's for ?

I'm happy to send you what i've got.
Not convinced about the 'reverse' bit though ...

Thank you for your kind offer. It's on a bill of materials for a project I'm doing.

I'll email the person who originated the BOM and ask for clarification :)

EDIT: It should be marked as c1M, I think.

Got a couple put aside:
They're A1M - A = log, 1M = 1Meg.

Never (in 20-odd years of working in electronics) heard of a C1M.

B1M would be linear.

Still don't know what this 'rev' thing is about - if you want to reverse the action of a pot, you wire it differently.

Anyhoo, if you want one (or two) let me know - i'll stick 'em in the post.

I can't for one minute see how you can jump to that conclusion from the four words that I wrote.

Reverse log pots are exactly that, a reverse log scale. Also known as Anti-log. I believe John uses them so he will know where to source one which was Joe's original question I believe.

Really ? Perhaps I'm just over-sensitive.

Which is pretty much what I was saying, to the best of my knowledge the easiest way to achieve this is to wire a log pot backwards...
Or am I missing something ?
Probably.

It'll operate in the opposite direction to taht which is normally acceptable. Blend pots usually comprise a log and an antilog track. As one pick-up goes up so the other comes down.

I'm also hunting for same pot - guess you've been putting together a Small Clone Chorus or repairing a MusicMan? Any luck in sourcing one? Care to share?
The Tonepad schematics refer to 1M-C marking on the back of this pot and its not a log pot wired backwards!

G&L L-2000 uses a 1Meg reverse log pot for the bass control and I think it was labelled C1M as well. You can get replacements from G&L here: http://www.glguitars.com/shopping/shopdisp...=Potentiometers

Maybe a little far to go for a pot, but that's the best I could think of.

Thanks - top digging there, I need to avoid mouser though as delivery charge is £12 for a £1.13 item, which is against my principals.
Unless I can pick up some from ebay at reasonable cost i will go with a 1meg linear :)

If you can't find a 1M C taper pot, a 5M linear with a 1M2 resistor strapped across the track terminals it will give a very similar result.

They are not very common in UK (As are quite a few parts) but are easy enough to find in Europe, I might have one somewhere, I'll have a look tomorrow and let you know.
