Travis Bean Bass

Folks,

I have been offered a late 70's Travis Bean bass (Fretless) As a big Mick Karn fan (and in the market for a fretless) I am tempted but will have a play first, it plays well (according to the owner) but is not in the best condition knock wise although nothing major. He wants £800 for it and as I have never seen one for sale have no idea if this is a fair price or not.

1) Anyone played one or own one?

2) £800 - Fair?

Steve.

Bite his hand off - I'm assuming this is the TB2000, these are very highly regarded and only 1000 odd were made, plus only a very few of which I'd guess were fretless.

Pre-recession these could change hands for £2K, and they're pretty much bullet-proof - I think when dropped the body could sometimes split along the line of the big internal cavity. Plus if the p/ups and bridge aren't original they'll be almost impossible to source, but it's still a bargain.

I've got one and yes they are heavy but not outrageously so, and are fantastic, unique basses.

If you don't want it, then you've gotta offer it here, and if you do then you've gotta put some pics in the porn section!
