Any help appreciated in putting a model name to this Yamaha bass and any info.

Friend says he bought it some 15-20 years ago from a junk shop. Worth a set up? May have been a catalogue job.

Sorry the pics are small, it's what he sent me.

Thanks

Sorry, i don't know the model. Being as its a Yammy - they rarely make bad basses i would definitetly go for a setup. One worry you may have is the neck as the loft is the one place in the house that gets the extremes of temperature. Cold in winter and hot in summer. It can play havoc with a bit of wood. I like the blocks on the neck.

I thought maybe, just maybe, it'd been a long day for everyone and no-one would do it. That's why I put "model name"

I was gonna have a search thru, but the Mrs is chasing me to the supermarket.

SB-30

Edit - Needed a wee :) (bit OT, but you know)

"By 1972 Yamaha had expanded it's line to include the single-cutaway SB-30. These were the first Yamaha basses to have two-to-a-side tuning machines and humbucking pickups. The SB-30's flowing curves had more in common with Yamaha's acoustic guitars than with any of the companies previous bass designs."

The History Of Yamaha Guitars (Over 60 Years of Innovation) - Mark Kasulen and Matt Blackett

Although yours has two pickups, SB-35?

You guys, honestly, what a bunch.

It's a Yamaha SB50 (2 pickup version of the SB30) made between 1972 & 73

Thanks so much for all your efforts and the links and info.

Really, really appreciated.

You've made me realise how much I still want an SB-55!
