I want a nice low grindy overdrive with a tone like in the first 50seconds of this video:

Yes I know all Tim's stuff is hand-built, hand-wired etc etc, I know he runs seperate clean/dirty channels, but anyone got any suggestions?

I've been messing around with an ODB-3, and while I've found a useable sound....its not that sound! :)
No suggestions for Big Muffs etc.....thats Fuzz, and I already have that :)

Cheers

Think his thing wasa Marshall Guvnor, the black one, LED clipping, maybe modded for bass, but his twin rig thing probably covered that. If you can get hold of one, it is a pretty simple two capacitor mod to open up the low end. There is a local chap who was making clones at one point.

I'm using an Ashdown Hyperdrive (James Lomenzo signature box) for a lot of the RATM stuff in the tribute band I'm in.
It may not give you the exact sound, but it gets you close enough and it's a pretty fat and solid sound live that I get from it.

I'm getting a similar sound, but I like it a bit brighter. I'm using a guitar distortion pedal (I think it's probably a tube screamer clone) blended with some compressed clean. I absolutely love his sound. I'll try and do some clips!

I love the bass sounds on that album! I think a cascaded solidstatey distortion into a tubey overdrive could be the answer - so in my case I'd run an MXR Blowtorch (running only gentle fuzz and a fair bit of clean sound) through a Fulltone BassDrive (again fairly mild overdrive). A lot of it's about how you attack with the right hand and mute with the left though!

Cheers guys, I'm not actually playing any Rage in the band (well a couple, but it's very very rare lol). But I want a heavier sound for guitar solos, and it's that sound I want haha.
Gonna get hold of a Guv'nor tonight I think, so will give that a go, perhaps a modded bad monkey might be the next place to try.
I'd like to try and keep it to a one pedal solution, simply because I'll be using it sparingly!
Alex, the Blowtorch is on my radar, sounds great in the demos, but it's 18v, which means I can't daisy chain it off a TU-2. This little setup is separate to my main pedalboard, so want to keep it separate.

On a side note, my Copilot FX Orbit just turned up :), going on my main board.
