1. I have a real weighty aluminium bass vi/ baritone that suffers from neck dive with a normal strap. I bought a Mono Betty strap and it’s completely cured the neck dive and has made the guitar comfortable to play for long rehearsals. I can’t say it’ll sort your problem out for sure but I was really surprised at the difference it made for me. I went for the short strap.
2. Ah thank you! tue nut width is 45mm and the spacing between the low E and A is 6mm and between the B and e is closer to 7mm. My ruler at hand doesn’t have smaller increments! At the bridge the spacing between low E and A is 8mm and just above 10mm between B and e. I find it really comfortable. The pickup positions sounds great! The bridge is really bitey and aggressive without being brittle and the neck is full and nasty without being woolly. I tend to favour the bridge pickup with some low end added in from an EQ pedal that I sometimes disengage to emulate the strangle switch from a fender style VI. The clean sounds are really clear and chimey and piano like with both pickups selected. It’s a unique sounding beast!
3. I love Bass Vi instruments! Here’s my Electrical Guitar Company Standard 30” scale Baritone/bass VI tuned to E standard with high gain single coils. It’s an incredible instrument! I use it in a 2 piece bass and drum project mainly but I’d love to use it as my main bass in a more conventional line up! I use Newtone Axion strings with a custom length. I also have a Squier VI with a staytrem bridge and aluminium scratch plate. It’s the bass that made me fall in love with vi’s!
4. Nothing against signature instruments if it feels like the right one but I wouldn’t buy one just for the name on the headstock. I’ve only owned one.. a MIJ Marcus Miller jazz about 16 years ago. Sounded great but played like a dog!
5. Not all Big Muffs are the same and the Bass Big Muff is definitely not my favourite but it’s useable. I prefer the green Russian Big Muff but my personal favourite is the Grey Stache from Fuzzrocious as i can boost the mids. I have one with 2 gain stages which is really useful!
6. I believe it’ll be a similar width to the Bass VI width which I really like but probably too narrow for you. Hopefully I will have it soon so I can give exact measurements.
7. I’m waiting on an EGC 30” scale bass VI style baritone. I’ll post pics and opinions when I get it!
8. Pic taken earlier this week at band practise. Orange bass terror 500 into 2 Barefaced Super Compact cabs. Sounds huge!
9. I ordered mine right at the end of September so it seems it’s more like a month lead time.
10. My second Super Compact has just been shipped today! Can’t wait to wait try out the pair of SC’s at my next band practice!
11. Possibly Spain by Chick Corea. The toughest part was getting the correct phrasing in the unison line and playing a convincing samba line in the choruses. Great fun to play!
12. Here's my small but powerful setup. (Shocking photo- sorry!) Orange Bass Terror into a Barefaced SuperCompact cab. Sounds great and really loud for the size. May add a second cab in the future but the main aim of this setup is portability. 13.
I love seeing 66s on boards!! I always feel like a proud half-parent Si
It really is a great pedal! Most important pedal I own! Thanks for helping birth the 66!
14. Here's my board. It's pretty small but does the job! Would possibly like to change the korg tuner to something smaller like a polytune mini but the korg has been on my board for 12 years now so I'm a bit attached. I also want to change the big muff for something rat based. Other than that I'm pretty happy with my board. The COG is a knightfall 66 with custom simpsons artwork. I love it! 15.
Latest setup. Pretty simple, three different flavours of dirt with a disaster transport for volume swells with the muff
This is an awesome little board! I'm in the process of choosing a rat type pedal and I think I may go for the cog tk421x . Although the new mxr distortion looks cool but I do like cogs!
