ped
Thanks guys - it sounds even better through my rig and the patches are improving every day as I fine tune them! The whole system has been quite a surprise for me, the quality is just outstanding. I literally haven't had a better sounding (and of course playing) Jazz bass yet... I haven't ever had a Stingray so having fun with that. Going to embark on a P bass soon, a P/J bass and waiting on Elros' info so I can make the Ken Smith!! I haven't even begun to play with the synths yet really, I wasn't expecting the 'bass models' to be so good, so have been very distracted... Cheers ped P.s Kev - not telling!! Soundslive have one for £699 but I don't know if that is without the pickup. When you have found 'the one' I think it is a reasonable price to pay for having everything else at your disposal though...

ped
That one has gone my son, gone gone. Cheers for the comments on the playing Nik, to be honest they are a bit sloppy, played in great haste before Neighbours... I will do some proper ones when I have had the time to eq and compress everything etc. The sound is amazing though for starters... My brother is getting the top Vdrum module soon so hopefully I will be able to work out the menu system on that too. It is quite intuitive actually.. maybe a bit less so than the pod, but there is more versatility in the setup and deep editing options. I am still using the pod though, it is still my overall pre-amp and recording interface. Cheers ped
ped
Thanks to Walman I now have a DVD FULL of drum loops and kits so I hope to be recording my updated sounds later this weekend. I have also made some great synths, including a cool wah guitar and a really 80's organ. Here are some more cheeky snaps. I love this thing. ped
Some new samples just for fun: http://media.putfile.com/Vigier-S2-clean http://media.putfile.com/Vigier-S2-Jazz-Bass http://media.putfile.com/Vigier-S2-Musicman I did record my Ken Smith sound too but apparently I didn't actually PRESS record and only realised after I had turned everything off which is a pain, will do that later or tomorrow. OutToPlayJazz
Hey Ped, the jazz sound is remarkably like my Marcus Miller, with the same kind of bite and attack. Excellent sound.

ped
Thanks for the comments dudes. The Jazz bass is modelled on the Bacchus I used to own which in itself did sound a bit Marcus like. Interesting you notice the attack and bite, it is really easy on the V bass to adjust this to make a softer sort of Jazz bass sound or dial even more shizzle. Metaltime, A Vbass went on eBay recently for £450 ish.. Thanks for the generous comments again Nik... Cheers ped
Bigwan
Can the Vbass do keyboard/organ/piano sounds? I know it doesn't do any pitch/MIDI conversion and it's all modelling...
ped
Hi, It can indeed do some brilliant organ sounds, brass sounds and 'crystal' sounds, some of which can sound very keyboard like. No actual Piano though. You can use the Vbass to trigger a MIDI thingy somehow, several people I have come accross have done it at some point or another. I have no idea how though. It does do pitch shifting, you can do whammy accross the whole bass, shifting up and down several octives or even detune individual strings. One setting I have the E and A strings tuned B and E and the top two strings a few ocraves higher with some lengthly synth on them making it sound like two instruments at once. In reality I have a lot to still discover and try with this thing. As you can see I have only just really got the Jazz and Musicman down to my perfect settings. The synths etc will require lots of time. That is why I bought this though - I was GAS free for ages being very happy with my basses and setup, but this is ideal for 'everything else' - i.e Bass sounds that I love but can't afford/don't want a bass specifically for, that I can play all now on my most comfortable, easy and familiar instrument! elros
No. The V-Bass does not do bass-to-MIDI. There isn't any MIDI sound generation happening in there. It's all advanced signal processing. For bass-to-MIDI (piano, horn, drum sounds for example) you need a guitar synth, like the Roland GR-20 or the Axon. The V-Bass does very good bass synth though. I've used it quite a bit, it sounds excellent (and is fully polyphonic).
Bigwan
So it would probably do Stevie Wonder type keyboard bass then?
