Hi Guys,

I routed this method on Marty's fretless, I had the idea that if both cavities linked it would help the resonance etc. It could be all pie in the sky mind, its gonna be interesting.

Looks really intresting surly the fact the control cavity having the electronics inside will hinder the effectiveness of the joint cavities idea? Im sure Im just being stupid though.

Who knows! There won't actually be much in the control cavity, just two pots and one switch, as it'll be all passive. It'll have a wooden cover so it should still act like a chamber.

Sounds silly, but i would be inclined to get a contact mic inside there and a little knob to blend that sound with the bass' electronics.

Really make a feature of it.

You'll hear that sound through the pickups anyway, as the body resonance shapes the response of the strings.

I did think of having piezo pickups but the Q-Tuners are so transparent that it would have been overkill and also would have required active electronics to do the blending. Looking forward to having no batteries to worry about!

Hi Guys,

Ok so we have the top on now and Im hoping to get started on the routing this week, cavites and over rounding the edges. Alex bud it should be ok to go with an Ash back plate, leave it with me.









Also the glockenklang 3 band pres turned up today and they are real nice. Pics soon

Hi All,

Well today we got quite abit done on the bass, all cavites machined and ancor tail done. Looking to blend the heel next week, mount the bridge and cut the nut. Could have it stringed up maybe also.

Looking good! The switch is on its way from Dingwall - have you got some top quality 500k audio & linear taper pots for the rest of the electronics? I know you mentioned getting some from West Labs. I'll post you that 40-55-75-100-130 set of Ken Smiths for stringing it up. Guess I need to order a new strap from somewhere - any suggestions for a nice rough backed leather one?

That looks amazing!! You just can't beat the feel of a wenge neck. (imo)
The body shape kinda looks Bee"ish" (is that a word?). I bet it sounds clear as a bell.
