1. I often hear talk of 'that Trace Elliot tone'. But what is it? What do Trace Elliots actually sound like? Reason I ask is because I see an awful lot of them in the classifieds at very tempting prices.
2.
Price sound very fair to me, considering there now selling for £899 online TC Electronics have really jacked up the price in the last couple of weeks
They've put up the cabs by another £100 as well. Cheeky gits!
3. Fenders vary so much between each individual bass that the best thing you could do is play them both.
4. I've always wanted to take lessons but there aren't really any good teachers round here (that i know of) I considered taking lessons in Leeds but driving there every week or so would be far too costly. It's quite tempting to take piano lessons like bubinga5 said. I've always liked the piano... Anyway, yes, I think lessons are very important. They're only worthwhile if you're actually learning though, just going through the motions is a bit pointless. If you can't get good ones I think it's worth keeping a practice schedule and making everything you practice worthwhile. Books are pretty useful imo.
5. The say that an image can be worth 1000 words. In this case it's about 3. Price drop to £160
6. Just wondering where you got that playing ramp?
7.
You must be one of the lucky few. I've had a nightmare with these and after several posts on the forum, you're the first person I've seen say they have good service.
I don't know what customer service is like - never had to deal with it. I've ordered a fair amount of stuff though, and the only problem i've ever had was a danelectro guitar took about 2 days more to arrive when it was snowing last year. Obviously if they've got a reputation for being terrible, feel free to ignore my recommendation. I'm only speaking from personal experience.
8.
I'm not sure about the 'play with a metronome' thing. To me, a drum machine is the same thing, but more interesting. I love jamming along to the Roland Cube Microbass RX.
Well, the theory goes that playing with a drum machine lulls you into a false sense of security - making you feel a groove when there isn't really one. Different strokes for different folks really.
9. Great price on that blowtorch, if only I had the cash... Have a free bump
10. Absolutely gorgeous. If I had the money I would be all over this. I'll give you a fiver for it
11. +1 on Stringsdirect. Can't say i've ever used soundslive, for guitars etc I normally use http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com Everything i've bought has been well set up and arrived in a timely manner. Very good prices as well.
12. Turns out I was very much off with the pricing, so i've dropped it to £180.
13. This is the now discontinued Ashdown Superfly 500w bass head. Here be specifications: Power Output (RMS) 2 x 250W into 4 Ohms Line Input 100mV – 5V Line Output 10K Ohms, 0dB DI Output 600 Ohms balanced / Level -20dBu nominal EQ +/- 15dB at 60Hz, 180Hz, 340Hz, 660Hz, 1.3kHz, 2.6kHz, 5kHz HxWxD (mm) 220 x 86 x 360 Weight (kg) 4.5 Effects Loop 10K Ohms, 0dB Digital Interfaces USB, MIDI Programme Memories 30 Factory, 69 User http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?ID=156 As you can see in the picture, mine doesn't have the plates. I removed them because they alone weighed about 3kg, and the amp gets pretty hot. The reason i'm selling it is because I don't really need an amp at the moment, and would prefer to get a Cafe Walter headphone amp or something for practice. I quite like the tone of the amp. It sounds pretty nice flat, and i've never really felt the need to mess about with the EQ. Pics: Sold as seen in picture with a power cable (and packaged, obviously) If you're particular about wanting the plates etc I can dig around for them but I can't promise i'll find them. With them on delivery will also cost more. Selling it for £180 ono I'd imagine delivery would be about £15. Paypal is fine. PM me with any questions.
14.
Not really, it was listed for a reasonable figure for a Big muff, adding a 1 to the front would make it a very odd figure to list something at. Plus if you make a mistake at listing, you have still listed it and sent out your contractual offer, this is why there are so many confirmation stages before it goes live. If someone sold me a wallet for £5 and it had £5 in it, that I knew was there, and they asked for it back, I'd probably not give it back to them. My wallet is in dire need of replacing. Similarly, JoeGarcia is a guy with a chronic shortage of fuzz pedals.
Fair enough. I had thought it might be worth more seeing as it was old/vintage and that £35 was ridiculously low, but if it's obvious she's lying about the listing mistake, then my point is moot.
15.
i'm after just the regular vt bass pedal, but waiting till the deluxe gets released so i can pounce on one when folk upgrade! wish they'd hurry up!!!
Me too. Can't wait until all the old standards are flooding the market
16. It's worth keeping the limiter/compressor off when you're practicing alone. Just one of many things that can hide technique issues. What limiter did you buy? Glad to hear you're happy with it.
17. Really? She obviously made a mistake when she listed it, why would you try and force her to send it to you? Would you keep someones wallet if you found it? It's their own stupid fault for leaving it right? I despair..
