1.
Any other trades (Ibanez sr600) ?
I can't really think of any other basses I want than one of the Yamaha's and I really ought to be trying to get some money out of it more
2. Wish I had the cash lying around, looks sweet as! GLWTS
3. Cheers! Yeah they're lovely, will be sad to let it go but I've a 76 jazz and a worrying bank balance. Bump bump bump BANG
4. SOLD FOR 400£ WITHOUT HARDCASE (JUST FOR FUTURE REFERENCE) 2006 CIJ Fender GL Jazz! Lovely instrument, powerful sound and very thin and fast neck with very low action (see photo), incredibly smooth and easy to play. Has been well used and has a few dents that reflect this, I've added photographs of these. Will consider trades for a Yamaha BB1024x £500 picked up from Manchester
5. Bought a G&L guitar off Grae. It's a lovely guitar, and he's a great guy, easy to deal with. Would recommend! Cheers, George
6. had my 3rd lesson today and in those 3 hours he has taught me a massive amount. he's sound as, and not only a talented musician but a talented teacher. my lessons with him have focused on theory, and you can tell he knows his stuff - already i feel like i am growing beyond being a bass player and into being a musician. can't recommend highly enough
7. bought dave's 75 jazz, absolutely stellar instrument, set up on it's great. excellent packaging, all around easy to deal with guy. would highly recommend
8. Have you got any recordings of it? Also what's the neck like, is it quite thick?
9. Just bought a clone theory off dunc, dispatched it fast, well packaged and it's all good. cheers mate
10. I brought my own strings with me and it was £30.
11. Went to Steve at redcow, picked it up today. He was late by a day or something because apparently he got pulled out because someone shitted the electronics at Fibbers, and was really apologetic. I didn't even notice tbh With regard to the set up - yeah, bang on. All fret buzz etc gone, feels great and makes me want to play with fingers again. Would recommend him happily P.s Thanks to everyone for their input 'n' that
12. Dave Gregory said he was booked for months and recommended Steve at RedCow. Seeing as pretty much everyone ever in York has recommended Steve I took it there - will report back if anyone really cares
13. Promised sxc piccies aren't really very sxc at all but they do the job.
14. Bought this off here a bit ago off 'dood' - he was a moderator but I don't know if he still posts (just checked. evidently still does). Anyway, details: Never gigged by me, or even taken outside of my room - only been moved once when I rearranged my room. I don't think he gigged it either. Condition is unchanged since this thread - http://basschat.co.u...page__hl__rh450 I used the footpedal once and then just put it in a shoebox under my bed because the control things are sort of uncomfy & sharp if you're not wearing shoes. It's in perfect condition. Selling because I fancy a change. I have the original boxes for both. Preferably I'd like some sort of trade involving a Little Mark and a BDDI or some sort of DI box. Otherwise I'd sell for £550 not incl postage, but would really really prefer to trade as I am a terrible terrible person with money. With regard to postage or whatever - live in York, would meet in many a place in York, and have a railcard. Going to upload sxc piccies tomorrow. Thanks for reading
15. Have these still gone down in price massively? I remember I really wanted to sell mine a bit ago but they just brought out a new one and they'd depreciated massively? Still the case? Sorry for being a lazy s***e and not searching around but a simple yes or no would be lovely. Thanks!
16.
30cm? Wow...impressed I am!!!
17.
Sorry mate, despite living here for years I've not tried anywhere locally. I guess the alternative might be that a forum member, with some more experience, steps in and sorts it for you if you can't find a local shop to do it. Will be good to hear you report back on your experiences, mind.
Okay, cheers. I'll let you know what I end up doing and how it goes.
I recently heard a recommendation for Dave Gregory, he's down by Clifton Green: http://davegregoryguitars.com/ I haven't used him myself though. I've never taken anything in to MOR or Red Cow.
He looks like he ought to be pretty good. Also located about 30cm from me which is nice. Popped him an email. Cheers
18.
I know this isn't what you are asking.... but why aren't you doing it yourself?
Because I'd end up going wrong somewhere. I'm comfortable with slight tweaks etc but I really wouldn't even know where to start as I've not touched the thing (Geddy Jazz) for ages so it's gotten into a bit of a state.
19. Hey, haven't posted in a while, so maybe this is the wrong subsection for this - sorry if so. Anyway, I've been looking at getting my bass getting set-up recently, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of the music shops in York (Mor, Banks, Red Cow). I'd be interested in places within about 15 miles too, but can't really give consideration to anywhere further than that because I don't want to cycle that far with bass on back Cheers
20.
If anyone knows a good source for stuff like this that I can use then I would be most grateful.
http://imslp.org/wiki/Main_Page Someone should transcribe Schoenberg for bass
