1. If only life were so simple! I'm hoping for her sake that the 3 year warranty will cover it!
2. Thanks icastle, I'm hoping there's a fuse there too but you would have thought it would be protected against such a mishap (although there's some things that you just can't insure for!!)
3. Hi everyone, not been on here for a while but hoping someone can shed light on something for me.... Went to rehearsal with the Shuttle 6.0 I've had for over 18 months the other night and there was nothing, nada, no lights or sound when the switch was turned on. No problems at all previously and love the amp. Anyway, it just came to my attention that the lovely wife had made an attempt to fire the amp up when I was out last week................ when I studied it at rehearsal, I was surprised to see the voltage switch at 110v instead of 240v and wondered how that could have happened....... can you see where I'm going yet??!! : ) Question is, would putting 240v in really render it dead or has some sort of safety thing gone off that can be re-set.....? There was no noise, bang or anything, just deathly silence from the bassist side of the room!!! Anyone else had this happen? Cheers!
4.
You mean Trouble as in the christian, Black Sabbath sound alikes?
Err... no!
5. Now that's what you call a band! Never seen 'em before, will be looking for them again!
6. It's only worth what someone's prepared to pay for it, and if someone's prepared to pay for it, then it must be worth it. And if you want it, buy it.
7. Got To Move - Fleetwood Mac
8. The Genz Benz combos are awesome. I use the Shuttle 6.0 with the 210T cab and reckon it makes my, wait for it..... Thunderbird (Gibson of course), sound like a DB. Might just be me though
9. Not sure it's kitch, rock or 80's.......... but, any interest in a Peavey 5 string?? Zephyr I believe, neck-through with Koa body. The Thunderbird is more my thing!!!
10. Treating a practice in a paid rehearsal room as your only practice is ridiculous.................. and bloody annoying for those of us who put the time in at home to get up to speed. Despite going to lots of effort to make sure the guitarist has mp3's of all the numbers, it's SOOOO obvious when someone turns up unrehearsed On the other hand, just started jamming with another band and the guitarist is so on the ball is unbelievable. The difference between can, and can't be arsed I guess.
11. Tell me if I'm wrong, but surely your choice of guitar will affect the 'inadequate' bottom end on a 6.0, or for that matter, any amp?? Having recently got a Shuttle 6.0 210T combo (after a Trace AH-500 with 4x10 and 1x15), I certainly don't find a lack in bottom end with a Gibson Thunderbird (yes, I know you don't like them on here..!). The difference seems to be that I don't need to be two streets away to hear it! My 2p for what it's worth
12. Life's too short people. I doubt any of us would turn down the opportunities she's had, and worked for. If you don't like it, don't listen to it......... easy!
13.
1969!? That's a long break man. What have you been doing all these years? lolz
That was some acid tab Seriously though, good on ya' and best of luck!
14. Done the original stuff, not much came of it, good fun. Now doing covers.................. the point is, to be out there playing is what matters. You got to give 'em what they want! Do it to the best of your ability and you can be proud of yourself
15. Boom Boom, has been for ages, but have done Roadhouse Blues once, and may do again!
16. Genz Benz Shuttle 6 210T combo Mightily impressed so far, amazing sound and volume. Next purchase will be the 12T extension cab!
17. Yes, nice looking bass. Fairly rare from what google tells me, and favoured by Guigsy of Oasis Saw the Jolly Boys at Electric Picnic, they were a great way to start off a Friday evenings festivaling! I thought he was sitting on a bass drum until I saw them last night, that's what I call laid back precussion!
18. Pretty sure it was a Gibson, anyone know what model? It looked and sounded great!

tascam?

The GT-R1 is a great bit of kit for practice, especially with headphones. The menu system is a bit old school but you soon get used to it. The slow down/speed up function is great for learning new stuff. Well worth having I'd say!
20.
In my experience of doing business with China there is a different culture of pride in turning out cost-effective equivalents; some of the watches mimicking the big western brands are very good quality with tremendous attention to detail which makes you wonder why the 'real things' (most likely many components coming from same factories) attract such a bloated premium. Is the price a true reflection of the cost of an item? Of course not, people are just buying into a brand for elitism, the dearer the better. I don't think they are hiding the origins of these products, the price alone tells us its not a real one. If someone sells one for $1600 and tries to pass it off as real then a crime is committed, but for people coveting the shape/look of a ricky or a les paul type or a telecaster type, these are a viable alternative. A lot of western patent laws are very hard to enforce in china, I have to admire their skill and tenacity turning out some of these 'knock off' products.
I have to agree. Five years ago, any hand planes coming out of China were shocking things, now however, they are producing tools that are almost identical to very high end UK and USA stuff with the quality to boot. And at a tiny fraction of the cost! (I don't use 'em mind ) Give them a few years and those guitars will probably be worth having. Here's to the free market! (Although I don't condone fakery).
21. Anyone have the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 12T combo? Thinking of one after a fatal visit to Bassdirect.............. Does anyone gig the combo on its own? Is the extension cab a must for volume against a guitar and drums? Mostly in small pub venues and I would get the second cab eventually but in the meantime would use it alone. I could feed into the pa but that sort of defeats the object of such an expensive rig doesn't it? Cheers all
22. Does using different blues scales and runs in the same song but in different places each gig mean 'chucking in tired old stock fills to show off'? Surely being able to improvise is a quality that a number of musicians strive for, it doesn't have to sound like trad jazz!! If you're playing a number you're not sure of, surely you are by nature, improvising. Sometimes you get away with it, sometimes you dont.
23. Ahh, purdey...... and green! Apologies for delay, hope these stir some interest. Will probably ebay tomorrow if not. Cheers!
24.
Ok, having just watched Gloria Estefan on Hot Tub's 80's thread got me thinking - the 80's IMO stank for drum sounds and 80/90% of keyboard sounds. As digital technology was being introduced everyone thought they HAD to use it, often to dire effect. Guitars also suffered (not only in sound but all those pointy headstocks Meanwile, bass was doing quite well with the likes of Mark King, Mick Karn, Pino et al. Meanwhile, not so much from a playing point but from an audio point, bass in the 60's was really way behind. But that was the decade of the Hammond, Rhodes and Wurlitzer. I guess the 70's was pretty good for bass with some of the classic dance music (Chic, EWF etc) but that was overshadowed by great rock guitar and drum sounds. Load of old bullocks or anyone else care to pontificate?
Don't leave out Martin Kemp for Gaawwwds sake!!!! Thankfully, as a teenager of the 80's I had the good sense to be a dedicated Entwhistle and Foxton fan!!!
