I've had a WT 550 also, and I was qute underwhelmed by it I'm afraid, it was nice for a little while but I wanted to try and make my tone sound much more clean and Hi-Fi but it just couldn't, it just got so muddy past a certain volume and never sounded as good as I had hoped. And the whole compressor set pull out/push in thing was just annoying after a while. That was through 2 Eden XLT 4x10's.

Gwilym get some pics of your 535 up man!
Yeah i guess, what do you think it is that can make a bad Fender? Fit and Finish, Electronics?? Is it less likely to be a turkey if the bass is American made???
All of those. Not exactly, Lakland USA basses are highly sought after for the qaulity alone.
Whats up with Fender, i played an American Vintage 75 the other day and it was killer.. I have a Sadowsky 5, so im looking for a better 4 string Jazz to replace my Jazz 24..Sadowsky's IMHO dont have the growl a Jazz should have..
Kev's just saying that Fenders can be a risk when your spending that much money on one and I agree with him, but there are great Fender Jazzes out there, there just few and far in between. Hmm, I thought the NYC's lacked the real growl and the Metros did a damn good imitation? It seems as of late that Sadowsky's are not living up to their jazz growl reputation.
cool thanks a lot for your reply. yeah i think the 4x10 sounds more up my street than the 2x12. im just a bit confused as to how it is so light and yet not have neo speakers. i need ceramic speakers if i am going to add it to my 2x10 half stack. i might email them
It could be the woods used for the construction of the cab and also the construction method, and maybe the speakers are just cheaper so they haven't got as much weight to them as opposed to the David series, which makes the cabs heavy as hell.

I've read nothing but positive reveiws about the Nemesis range, some players even prefer them to the David/WT series. I don't think they are Neomodium because it would be stated in the specs as they are with the David Series Neos. Well I'll say now that the 4x10 will sound different to the 2x12 easily, the 4x10 will sound more punchy and focused, whereas the 2x12 will be more focused on the low mids and bring more low end as well. Thas only mild help, but from having a full Eden set up myself I can safely say that all of their stuff is great qaulity and very rarely lets people down.

+1 for those previously mentioned. Also a Sadowsky Metro if you can find a second hand one.
Thanks for the kind words Josh as for my thumb i dont think anything can growl like that, so i think the streamer would be a good contrast ??
It will balance out the lower end of things, but I always found it sounding thin comapred to the growl of the Thumb, but that's just me .
It'll be a 5 string streamer stage1 this time, actually the guy that's selling it has just put it up on this forum for sale, so if it sells before i have sold my amp i'll probably keep the head as well, it's a great sounding rig, that cab i got from you is awsome!!!
Ah well can't blame you Allan, but I'll just say if your hoping for it to growl as well as your Thumb then don't get to excited, hence why I sold mine on. Regardless, to everyone, Allan is a pleasure to deal with so please buy with confidence!

Just gauging how much interest I can get for it. Been thinking seriously about this for the last few weeks and I've pretty much deicded that my 635 is the one I prefer in both tone and feel, being that the 535 is much more warmer and P-Bass esque sounding, obviously with the MTD fundamentals which I just adore but I find my 635 is much more the MTD tone I prefer. It's all down to the different woods and although this bass sounds great and plays effortlessly and since owning it has helped me to no end to help define my tone and my 635 has helped continue that, it's just quit ean expensive bass to only be playing now and again. Pics: Specs: MTD USA 535 *855 5 String 35' Scale 21 Frets 4 coil passive pick-ups and electronics are custom made by Bill Bartolini 3 Position Switch Mid Selector Buzz Feiten system Maple neck and board Mahogany body Spalted maple top Tradewise I'm only considering other high qaulity basses, such as: Ken Smith, Sadowsky, Roscoe, Zon, Fodera, or a MTD 24 fret 535 It's a long shot but hey, I'll be more than happy to hold onto it if there is nothing that takes my fancy. Please note I'm not after any fretless basses or Fenders. Also if anyone is interested theya re welcome to try out the bass as well. Thanks all, Josh.
indeed. It sounds too good
Schhhwweeet!! And you know the irony, my Spector sounds the way I wanted that SS2 to sound, so were both winners .

Is one definetly settled with the SS2 now??

Tight, good tone, good choice of notes, etc... But what really makes him any different from countless other similar soloists exactly?
Hey people. After buying a Sadowsky 5 (and loving it ) i want to get another 4 string..I have the chance to buy a GB Spitfire, which im going to try out this week.. .What should i expect from these basses, i have heard great things..This bass is roughly £1800, is this a good price for this instrument (in this current climate).. Bass Ferrett/Phsycocandy if your out there...are they Sadowsky like, or something totally different, i have heard the electronics are very powerfull..Can i expect a Jazz growl or more of a modern punch?? Any thought appreciated!!
GB's will definetly give you a mix between the 2, a very Hi-Fi modern punchy tone, obviously it's also dependant on the woods but the main GB fundamental tone will still be there.

Isn't that the bassist of The Buggles?

Since being reunited with my Spector I'm finding that I'm playing it much more than my MTD's, it is considerably cheaper, not in quality far from it, but I'll have a quick play on eithe rof the other 2 and within 10-20 minutes I'm back on my Spector and then I'm on it for a good hour. After the slightest tweak it plays exactly how I want a bass to play, the MTD's are the same but there's just something about the Spector that I can't shake off.

And I think Burns basses are made here, but other than those listed I'm pretty sure thats it, besides maybe a few lesser known builders.
