  1. Deoends if you are looking to build up, shave off or have a complete reshell. Anyway, sent you a message.
  2. Thats a very short period of time. Did you lose/gain weight? As a minimum, I'd expect 4-5 years. I have a set that are 10 years old now and still fit perfectly - but I haven't really changed in shape (ok, maybe a few extra lockdown pounds... but you know)
  3. Just a few points to counter your statements - You haven't really said what "earphones" that are using. The custom fit and quad minimum (treble, mid, bass, bass) advice that I give is particularly for addressing the amount of bass and low end response that typically, cheaper IEMs and earphones just won't be able to produce. Presumably you are talking about 8x10 simulation with regard to the perceived movement of air as opposed to any tonal shaping.. as the backbeat doesn't do the latter. The former point is largely a psychological thing. 8x10 don't make your trousers flap - its more about the volume of their output that they produce when you aren't using ear protection - or the rumblings through the floor. If you use a PA with a some nice subs, it'll do the same job in terms of tangible vibrations. How your band is geared up also determines whether your band is a "headache" to set up. If you are running a silent stage, with say, modellers (such as a Helix), it's not really a difficult setup. As for drums, you can mic up the whole kit, or get away with with a kick and overhead (or two overheads if you want stereo). And lets not forget - no monitor wedges... and the added bonus of being able to hear EVERYTHING on the stage super clearly.
  4. I never realised that Selfridges were doing Empire, Nobel, A&K, 64 etc. I haven't got any particular view on Empire ears as I'm not really that familiar with them - certainly not so I could recommend them or not. For that sort of money, I would still push for a custom shell, so would still go for a UE6. As for the UE5 vs UE7, I personally, are still not mad keen on double driver (or even triples - with the exception of a UE6) - but this is talking from the view point of a bass player. For vocalists that doesn't crave bass, I'd push for the UE7 - but for a bass player, I'd still favour the UE6 over the UE7, until you get to the option of a UE11. Again, this all depends on your budget. Custom fit is such a massive part of the experience - from both a sonic, fit and seal point of view. However, I do understand if you ever want to sell a set of IEMs on, you are somewhat limited on the resale value of customs.
  5. Had both. Snake oil claims on anything to do with weight. The "spring" of them, I guess, at best, gives you a little "suspension" to lessen the force applied to your shoulder when you change direction. My best advice is get a wide strap to distribute the weight across your shoulder. To anybody reading who likes short straps, the Neotech doesn't go particularly short. (I paid for a local seamstress to shorten mine as I am very particular about strap length!)
  6. Seems to work nice with electric basses too.
  7. If you aren't looking at drive, the Stanley Clarke Pre could be a more interesting route to take. I always find myself more drawn to that than the MB3 tbh.
  8. Jeez, as if the show and your weekend couldn't get any worse. (:P)
  9. Well, you wouldn't expect to see a mask in 2 days if the people that wear masks due to being apprehensive about Covid didn't turn up. I know that for the stand I am usually on, we did discuss at length what we thought that the turn out would be like... and we both thought that people are still worried about covid, especially in an event that is traditionally, quite full of people passing closely to one another. I personally still don't think the bass community is big enough to support its own show at scale. The reason why Stevie's shows worked in Manchester, was down to the top flight players that he got and the ability to see these folk perform up close. The retail element of that show was never as big a part. This show feels like it's turned on its head somewhat... retail was put above the bass personalities - for whom the pull would have been a little more limited I think, certainly compared to the original names mentioned. From what I've seen, guitar shows are always the best attended, followed by drum shows. Bass always has the weaker turnout. Even when there was the London bass show, it was always smaller and less well attended than the drum show equivalent. Who knows what the secret to cracking a large scale bass show is? Certainly, for me at least, Liverpool seems a bit of a weird place to have held it.
  10. So what we thinking? People apprehensive due to Covid?
  11. Just been checking out the insta feed today. Very little bass content. Slightly more drum content. From somebody just looking at the socials, it didn't look particularly well attended...?
  12. @Stub Mandrel- you are quite right. I've just gone parts diving - and as @Richsays, same suspension. Everyday is a school day!
  13. Vauxhall Cavalier. The parts bin of various manufacturers were well and truly raided. It's like the door handles... they are as cool as f**k... until you realise they were raided from the Austin Allegro parts bin!
  14. Otherway round. It was GM that funded Lotus to produce the VX220 which would share the Lotus S2 Elise chassis - but little else more. (Different shells, engines, transmissions etc)
  15. But they are definitely not Peavey. Mind you, conversely, you could say that folks driving around in Porsches and Lamborghinis are in reality, driving around in Skodas.
  16. But it's not a Peavey
  17. I’d go UE11 at 955. If the 900 is firm, my second choice would be JH11.
  18. As in more expensive or less expensive. Less expensive is tricky, I wouldn’t recommend anything less than a UE6 for bass.
  19. SE846 via DV247 - £689 UE6 via Custom IEM company - £615 Whats a second hand value of 846s? Looking on ebay, since the start of the year, prices have ranged from 235-580 with the average price realistically being around £400. Get saving for the UE6s. My mate (MD for the book of Mormon has just gone UE6 - he was previously on 846s (main pair and a spare) and is cursing because like many, he worked up through the Shure range up to the 846s. He wished he just pooled his money from the start to get a couple of pairs of customs. He said to me when spoke to me after the first gig he did on the customs - "infinitely better than the 846s and if the UE6s are this good, I can only imagine where the higher priced stuff gets me". It's all nice stuff to have, but seriously, gun for that UE6, worth every penny.
  20. @TripehoundI was waiting patiently for the whistle... and there it was. Top Marks!
  21. Did you read my story about the two pubs with the same name...? Funny though, a slight take on another problem - I remember when I had to have a glove box full of A-Zs to gig. The internet route print outs were fine... until the roads were closed.
  22. Dont do an underwear swap with your partner on a gig day. You may live to regret bending down to plug in that lead.
  23. aha, we've found the singer that does anything but pack up.
