1.
Not wanting to high-jack the thread but can someone please tell me what is so special about "Sex On Fire"? TBH I'm not really a Kings Of Leon fan. Their earlier songs were OK if nothing particularly special, but a photo of them in a music mag sporting ridiculous beards pretty much put me off investigating any further. A couple of weeks ago my girlfriend was playing their "Only By The Night" album in the car, and I got to hear Sex On Fire properly for the first time. I really don't get it. It's not the best track on the album by a long shot and not helped by the fact that the two tracks before it are far stronger songs, in terms of tunes, riff and general anthemic qualities. So what's the big deal? Why is a fairly mediocre song by a mediocre band such a crowd pleaser?
Would you say that Mustang Sally was the best cover by The Commitments? Just the way it is, I guess.
2. Yes, that scratch plate is a bit err... Black acrylic would be a better option. Headstock proportion is still not right - matched headstock would be preferable too as you say imho.
3. Not saying you suck btw!
4. Guess it sucks to watch your show if you are off centre of the stage.
5. You run stereo front of house?
6.
Is stereo (or bi-channel..?) so important for monitoring..? Does anyone really go for that..?
Absolutely! An in ears mix in stereo is something to behold.
7. The Dingwall Thunderbird. Headstock fail.
8.
http://www.thomann.d...CFUSVGwodBPkG4w Soundcraft UI16 Has 4 independent aux outs so will feed 4 Iem's with their own mix.
Or two in stereo... http://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_x_air_xr16.htm also from same price category... XR18 will get you 6 auxes... but will also give you further capability with the P16 system.
9.
"do you think you could turn it down a bit?" to which the drummer replied very loudly from behind me: "do you think you could f*** off?" yes. it happened.......... more stories like that by the bucket...........
Ooh, I've got a good few stories like that
10. Pretty much available at any CCTV supplier. Some connectors are not so tight - if you find that to be the case, some tape will hold the joins together (which I always do for piece of mind anyway) or if you are very gentle with a pair of needle nose pliers (with some kitchen roll around the ends as to not burr the metal of the connector) you can squeeze them ever so slightly (and I mean slightly) so they are slightly oval - that will make the fit tight.
11. Maybe a Rickenbacker style headstock would set it off nicely too.
12. I'd never use anything but a hardcase. My Hiscox cases have served me well.
13. Nah, still safe. White or nothing.
14. I reckon Sterling Ball would be all for a Dingwall Stingray. No problem whatsoever... <creeps backwards out of the thread>
15. EBS make cases like that. Wooden covers attached by velcro. If you don't get anywhere with that, you may want to look into those? To be honest, you may be able to adapt the existing ones to work?
16. Yes, XR18 - do it. Although you probably want to budget for an external router also.
17. I feel a thread spin off coming on...
18.
Is there a fretless version?
Why, do you need some more mwah on your weak upper strings? Or is it you need more burp on your unique "piano like" B?
19.
Sadowskys don't make any sense until you're in a band situation.
I'm glad somebody else is with me. Their core sound just doesn't do anything for me whatsoever. If I picked one up in a shop, I wouldn't walk out with one. Having tried one on a gig... well, that's a different matter. But I don't think I could buy I bass that does nothing for me tonally outside of a band situation.
20. As an aside, those R303 are ambitiously priced for a set of triple drivers...
21. They can... Whether they should...
22.
Perfect, thanks
No worries.
23.
hmm nice, theres one on reverb second hand, still not cheap
I don't like it. I'm safe again.
24.
I'm in the market for one of these too, but most of what i've found here have a female one and 2 males on the other. I need male to two males
Get a standard male/female splitter set up... and one of these, a male/male coupler.
25.
I need to add one more pedal to my board, but all five of the plugs from my one spot are used up. Anyone know where I can get a 2 way splitter where the two plugs are both right angled? I've had a look online but they either seem to be straight or in the States
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-BLACK-CABLE-LV-POWER-SPLITTER-2-1MM-1-x-FEMALE-IN-2-x-RIGHT-ANGLE-MALE-OUT-/321915381491?var=&hash=item4af3a6e6f3:m:mdFKsz85xreuOSFaamedpCg
