not sure - basically like having a wah pedal fixed in position..
-
not sure which to go for though, so far I've found: keeley nova wah rocktron sweet spot daredevil pedals atomic cock jekeko wah MXR KFK Q Zone Fixed Dunlop wilson effects fixed wah

moog does look great, but does so much more than I need or would want to use, normal envelope filter sounds don't interest me at all... I may just pull the trigger on one of these fixed wah pedals and see!
-
Moot prob overkill for my needs... IE not operational at present are they?
-
hey. so has anyone got any experience with fixed wah / fixed filter pedals on bass? there seem to be a few out there, and this one seems to do the job: http://www.rocktron....sweet-spot.html wilson effects and keeley also make similar pedals. I basically want something that is the equivalent of setting the start and stop filter notches on a micro synth to the same frequency, and moving them up and down to set the filter... This pedal, plus the keeley, have 'bass' settings so I presume should sound good on bass, but there are no bass demos on the net, so has anyone used one, or something similar? I'm not interested in envelope filters, or wah pedals, just something where i can set the frequency of the filter with a knob!! (looking for sculpting synth/fuzz tones, as opposed to 'funk') cheers

Should I buy an OCD/Fuzzrocious Demon type pedal?
Get the Joyo clone, fraction of the price and has more low end! I ordered one for £25 delivered from eBay, might be arriving today! Clip: https://soundcloud.c...joyo-ultradrive
hmmm that IS interesting, the fuzzrocious OSD I had was nice but not as bass-ey as I wanted, joyo may be worth a punt then! -

ha, I'm in a sort of similar situation, pondering another (probably completely un-necessary) dirt pedal purchase! I've got an old fulltone bassdrive, tall font russian, BB bass preamp and malekko diabolik, but used to own a stache, rat tail and OSD from fuzzrocious. I sold the OSD as, to me, it didn't really give me anything unique sounding. It sounded pretty good, just not different enough to the other pedals I had to make it worth keeping... though I occasionally think about getting a demon king ss/bs mini is tempting me a LOT right now! -

Fuzzrocious BDPG or a Catalinbread SFT OR a Wren&Cuff Phat Phuk B

amazing as the meatsmoke sounds, you don't need $2,000 valve amps, something like an old fender baseman 135 and some good dirt pedals can lead to spectacular dirt tones -
I dont think I'll be happy with any overdrive until I have a 200W tube amp doing most of the work.
i know it's not what people want to hear but I genuinely believe that a tube amp is the most important bit for killer drive tones.... -
Hahaa, indeed!!!

yeah, I just watched that - all the effects sound the same, I wonder how much $$ he got for the last couple of video demos! I don't want to knock his site as I think it's a good resource, but I think the recent fuzz wars with JMJ doing most of the talking was soo much more interesting!

thanks for commenting... I still have an OC-2 on the board that covers me for octave-down synthy tones... I need to try one, you're right how versatile are the FX elements of the POG2? I'm thinking of running it with a fuzz, potentially also with the OC-2, using the volume swell and the filter sections... cheers!
-
so I've been close to getting an EHX microsynth a few times recently, then I looked into the POG2 in more detail, and think it might be a better shout. Aside from better tracking, and presets, it can still do volume swells, and has a filter (I only ever set the two filters together on the microsynth anyway)... on my board with a few dirt pedals either side of it, I think it'll do the job nicely... has anyone got / tried a POG2, any thoughts/opinions?? cheers

***SOLD*** Fulltone - BassDrive (TRANSITIONAL MOSFET rare model)
I have one of the old too, no mention of mosfet anywhere and with the pull switch on the volume, number 709, very happy... but I always wondered what are the sonic differences between all the switched versions...
yeah, this is the version I have - such a versatile pedal, though if you want to use it in comp cut mode, I find you need to shove something under the volume pot as it gets pretty loose! -
...my loathing for traditional clean blend with Muff was the driving force behind creating (in my mind anyway) a better/different way of blending. I don't like that with a clean-blended Muff you will hear a distinct clean tone next to the fuzz signal - they just don't integrate and you hear two signals (clean and fuzz) rather than one big tone. On the Grand Tarkin, the clean signal is filtered to complement the fuzz signal and actually BLEND with it as opposed to just adding clean signal next to the fuzz. The addition of this filtered blend to the Grand Tarkin was to allow the user to create new tones by exploring the dusty ends of the Tone and Mids controls, rather than just the traditional blending of clean in with the dirt.
yes, there is definitely a good and a bad way to integrate a blend - on my malekko diabolik, it works better than any other pedal I've tried, so I'm not opposed to it on all circuits (though have not tried a grand tarkin or a pickle pie B, which also has a similar design I think, or at least a similar philosophy)...
And *cough* you probably won't get any customs charges ordering from them!
yes, well, there is that too *aham*
-
never tried the tarkin, but it sure sounds good on the pedals & effects vid - if i didn't have the TFR i'd try one for sure... i don't see the appeal of blending with a muff... it's very much a personal thing I suppose, others have sent W&C muffs to Mat at W&C to add a blend, just because they like that sound if clean signal plus fuzz, but I really REALLY don't!!
-
Where can I get a TFR? The only UK dealer listed on W&C's site has no stock of it... Is it worth it to order from overseas?
100% the TFR is special - though is not in stock at prymaxe in the states either, but they always have a discount code, and it's cheaper (even with tax) to buy FX from that store that via UK dealers, at least in my experience!!
-
i don't put any pedals through a blender, wouldn't dream of watering down my TFR, and to me it doesn't need a blend at all, it adds bass and has plenty definition for what i use it for. BUT, the blend integrated into the diabolik is an integral part of it, and it's needed there (but it's a good blend, and doesn't sound like bass + fuzz)
-
I guess we could organise a Fuzz day at some point Like the bass bashes, but just for Fuzz? haha Si
YES

W&C Tall Font Russian and (my new fave) the Malekko Diabolik Really good range of sounds between those two, and they are totally different beasts. So they are both on the board... Not going to get a chance to use either today, but I'm actual resisting the temptation to make any dirt-box related puns as to what my plans are this evening
