1. lazy of me to not search for any previous threads - this is a classic "drunk and at home on a friday night" thread!
2. cool, listening to them now - interesting stuff!! should have posted links to some of the bands I mentioned: http://bearclaw.bandcamp.com bear claw are an awesome chicago band with 2 bassists... well worth a listen!
3.
dude - my OCD would have led to me painting that micro thumpinator black by now one change - though I'm not going to jinx it and say the delay quest is over, I'm loving the EQD
I just want to say, close to 3 months later and no change (apart from changing the order slightly to swap the positions of the chorus and the delay)... and no sniff of a change on the horizon. weird. reached a point where I am (I think) 100% happy! so, umm, see you later!
4. thinking of starting a post-hardcore / post-rock ish 2-piece, so looking for inspiration!!
5. ok, so this may not be the right place to post this, but i never really stray outside of the effects forum, so am sticking with what I know! my friend played me Royal Blood the other week, and I was drunk so I forgot. Then tonight I saw them on the T in the Park highlights, and they are awesome, a great bass-driven 2-piece. So I want to know what other bands, not necessarily 2 piece but certainly bands without a guitarist, are there out there that people are into, where the bass is really driving everything. I know a few, but want to hear something new! I know of, and love, dianogah, bear claw, death from above 1979 (obviously) and zu can anyone else point me to something new and exciting?? and any info on how they use their pedals and amps to deal with the lack of guitars??
6. Selling my Jack Casady (along with some pedals and maybe more basses) to help towards a new flat deposit... This bass came to me in a trade and is in top condition, and sounds and plays great. I removed the scratch plate as I think it looks better that way, but I still have it and all the screws, etc, so a super easy re-attachment. No case, and therefore collection in Bristol or a meet up would be better, but failing that I can probably source a box and courier if that's the only option! No trades thanks. Priced to sell at £345... no trades at the minute, thanks. (those aren't marks on the back, just a reflection!!)
7. Selling my Neunaber Wet Reverb. It's a great reverb, from subtle all the way up to spectacularly huge ambient magic. But I am saving for a deposit for a new flat so this and a couple of basses have to go, as they are not getting used! Perfect condition, never left the house. Bought for £169, so selling for [s]£125[/s] [s]£110 [/s]£99, inc. UK postage. No trades thanks. There is some velcro on the base, easily removed and does not cover the warranty sticker.
8. why do you need to remove the rubber? I have had a BOSS TU-2 velcro'd onto boards for over 10 years, and it has stayed in place, with just a few narrow strips of velcro along the edges of the base of the pedal... decent velcro along the edges should be more than enough!
9. most things covered by now, but maybe an arpeggiator (I think the EQD one is supposed to be quite decent?)... also, a very deep, ambient reverb (neunaber WET highly recommended, love mine!)
10. bump for a cracking little pedal...
11.
Avoid chorus, that won't work.
very much a matter of opinion, set right it is great for this sort of sound
12. i'd agree with OC-2, dial out the clean, bit of o/d and a touch of chorus...
13.
Cheers! Very keen to hear your thoughts on the Neunaber, I hope you love it as much as I do mine! Please, first time you plug it in, hit a high chord with the Mix at 3 o'clock and the Depth control on full...beeeautiful!!!
I actually picked it up yesterday, before I saw your comment, but funnily enough mix at 3 and depth at full was what i did immense sounds!! I was thinking i'd pair it with my delay, but i don't know, for the minute I've lost all interest in the delay now I have this!! having lots of fun with it...
14. Knobs per pedal ratio is the only ratio that counts
15.
The latest, with an almost pure-COG dirt section...That TFR's not going anywhere though!
nice just found a post office missed delivery slip in my mailbox at home - my neunaber WET has been sat at the post office waiting for me for almost 2 weeks! dead excited to pick it up tomorrow night!!!
16. bump

Gated Fuzz

I've not played one, but have heard several demos of the fairfield circuitry unpleasant surprise and it sounds really really good
18. earthquaker devices hummingbird - for me this beats the PN-2, as there is a volume control so you can boost it
19. thanks all, I think that's my mind made up then
20.
You may have seen it, but I reckon this guy shows it off nicely (from around the 2:05 point). There's no other reverb with a decay quite like it...I tried the stereo btw, and there's little/no difference from the mono. Not worth the extra £££ anyway!
yeah, watched that demo again yesterday, plus listened to his band's new album on bandcamp (the sound of rescue) - awesome stuff
21. Hey all, So I'm looking to get a reverb pedal for ambientey stuff, and due to trading a pedal in with a specific company I have a choice of two: Neunaber Wet Reverb Mono (reverb only) or EQD Dispatch Master (delay/reverb). Any thoughts between these two?? I already have a delay on the board, so I guess the question is, for ambient music, would a more controllable reverb be best, or a less controllable reverb with the option of 2 delays??? Currently utterly on the fence, so any opinions welcome
22. bump...
23. drum machine withdrawn (it's too much fun!), and BF-2 on hold pending payment. Just the OxFuzz left
24. Easter bump...
25.
True, I like your old DM for those reasons though, its really clean sounding. Before I got yours Gaz I had an old version DT going into a Ghost Echo and that WAS great however the DM does it but cleaner. EDQ put a lot of atmosphere (other sound) into their pedals. That melkko's on the board now I see.
what do you think will sit best after the DT then, a ghost echo or another DM?? and the malekko KILLS really nice contrast to the TFR, as one is bassey and thick and the other is nasally/mid-range and bright...
