I'm waiting on the EQD pitch bay, looks fantastic
I'm not sure I agree with this...If you take Justin Chancellor as an example, there are a few times where he uses his DD-3 really well just to add texture to, but not necessarily "drive" a track (like Jambi, perhaps?). One of my favourite uses is Pets by Porno for Pyros, adds a bit of flair to the bass-line, but the bass isn't the driving melody or rhythm by any means. I think it's a nice effect to have and be inventive with, and not just use for The Edge-style dotted 8ths...
it's just how I personally like delay with bass, for how I use it. I agree, it can sound fantastic as a more subtle effect, but I like to use it in less subtle ways!!
someone wants to be the edge of bass?!
Nah not really, i just like some of the rhythmic delay stuff he does!!!
-
Yeah, i've gone through more delays than any other effect, trying to find one that does what i want... I use delay a lot at home though!
-
I find it only works if it is the main, driving melody and rhythm of the track, at least for how i like to use delay.. (I.e trying to be The Edge on bass!!). Can't be a backgroud thing (unless you're going all ambient and post rock)

I have sometimes used analog delays for noise at gigs, bit cliche but can sound cool. For more musical use of delay, I like doing stuff like this: https://soundcloud.com/gazthefink/von-bartha-flotsam-jetsum The track above was done with a DD-3, but I recently got a Catalinbread Echorec, and I'm starting to come up with lots of similar style ideas, but there's a LOT more scope in the Echorec to do this sort of thing

OK so ignore everything I said 3 days ago... bit the bullet on a PT-Jr, so tonight is re-wiring time The mini is dead... long live the JR!

Yes mate - just not plugged in for this pic If/when i upgrade to a PT-JR / PT2 i'll be needing a few more strips of lighting

Played my first gig with the new band last night, and used this setup: Loving the Diabolik, it's a perfect 2nd fuzz to go alongside the muff, gets really nasty/industrial/gated/amazing Only trouble is I want to use my delay too, so it's looking like I need a bigger board... but I'm going to wait til the bass whammy comes out, as that won't fit on a PT-JR!! Links to a couple of tracks from the album below, coming out later in the year, if anyone interested (lots of fuzz/synth bass going on!)
Thanks for the feedback - we're working on something new and it's got more than two chords!
Two chords is pushing it. Three chords and you're into jazz... OK, so things are looking good I was out last night so only had 15 mins to try the echorec, but first impressions are very very good indeed... band prac tonight so can give it a proper runout, but I think it may finally end the delay quest!!!

BB ambassador #2 here... My BB is amazing when driving my TFR so I vote yes

I've tried a DD3, RE-20 space echo, mad prof DBD, catalinbread montavillian, malekko 300D, EQD dispatch master, maxon AD9 Pro, Maxon AD10, MXR carbon copy plus I'm sure there are more. it's truly delay madness...
