I would kind of agree with you there. The 5 is certainly more mellow than the 4, which can get quite aggressive. It still sounds like a good P though. I think the 4 sounds more like a bright 50’s Precision and the 5 a mellowed out 60’s Precision.
I have considered trying some other pickups in the 5 but overall am pretty happy with the sound, the 4 is absolutely perfect though😊
Thanks! I did try some SD Quarter Pounds too but they were far too boomy so they came straight out!

I prefer the Hotcovers ones. The padding is awesome and I ordered mine with a wrap around flap that effectively covers the whole amp.

Funny thing I find with my ABM600 is input VU dial anxiety!!
When I think I have it set right or just going into the red on loudest note the band plays and I look back and it’s hard over at times on lowest of notes !
Ashdown states it won’t hurt the amp but I wish it just had an input LED and the VU only on the output as per the CTM100 or the mk V
They could use the input dial as a tuner instead 👍
With the EVO V I now have double this anxiety!

Am I the only person on this planet that prefers the staggered pots?

I have always used a 10 year old Tascam GB-10 without a problem. Recently I wanted to use it but all files gave (FILE ERROR - PRESS PLAY). The music store couldn't help me and advised me to buy a new one. Unfortunately I have the same problem with the new Tascam GB-10 from the first time (FILE ERROR - PRESS PLAY). I reformatted the card. I have checked all files by AudaCity and if necessary conferted to 44.1 kHz. If I perform all kinds of actions, the Home button, and then scroll button to the left or right, for example, I can sometimes play a file. If I can do that, by stopping the playing song and then scrolling to the next song, I can eventually play all the songs. When browsing to the next file, the problem occurs again. Who knows the problem and can help me?
The only way around this I have found is to find a file that plays 100% of the time on the Tascam and compare its properties with one that doesn't, then changing the newer one to the older format. The Tascam is pretty old technology (last firmware was 2010) and it is not keeping up with modern encoding, so 44.1kHz and 320kbps or smaller. I always used 128kbps max. It even struggles to use larger memory cards so you have to stick to 32GB cards max.

Your hot is inside the white sleeve. The earth is the currently exposed copper.
Thought so, thanks. Is this a new thing, both in the same wire?

This is a game changer. So easy to control my own mix, in stereo, even whilst playing. It's brilliant. Thanks to @EBS_freakfor the recommendation.

Thanks for all the input. I’ve looked at all the options suggested and I’ve gone for these above ^ in the first instance. At first I tried to find them in the Uk, to no avail. But if you do buy direct from the US, they’re only $6.90 and postage to the UK is free. I’ve gone for the smaller ivory ones as they are the same diameter as my current dot markers, the 1/8” ones might be a tad too big and look a bit odd.
Anyway, I’ll post an update once they are here and fitted. Fingers crossed.
Rob
Good stuff. This is them fitted to mine.

Same issue here. I use small white 'letraset' type transfers over the original dots from this chap https://www.rosetteguitarproducts.com/new-page-2
I have a thumb on back of neck style of playing so I don't rub them off but if you grip your neck like a baseball bat then I'm not sure this solution would be a long term one!

Hi,
on my Rootmaster 800 Evo the Green led on the back of the Vu meter don't work. Someone of you have this problem?
Mine is fine. It flashes on and off. Is your VU needle moving?

If I recall, @Chownybass had to make a slight design modification to their basses of this style following some pressure...

Nice, you have the evo V? How does it compare to the IV?
It's lovely - covered it off a bit on this thread.

It's funny the difference in settings. I have my input at about 9 o'clock with the 350hz boosted to about 75% and the treble dial dimed. Rest of the settings are very similar. Though that volume drop when switching the compressor on is my only complaint, any way around that or is it just what it is?
40 minutes ago, sirmuppet said:I get what you say about the needle. I'm using a USA standard P bass from 2014 with the standard custom shop 60's pickup. It's passive and completley unmodded yet it peaks at 9 o'clock. That said I still get a huge amount of volume and the tone is to die for, just not the settings you'd expect to have which throws you at first.
The EQ settings have a significant impact on the input level and therefore the needle. Boosting anything will mean you having to back off your input which is what it sounds like you have to do. You could always cut instead of boost if it's an issue?
And there's no way around the compressor. It's the same on my EVO V. I asked Dave Green about it and he said it was normal!

I have a pair of UE6s and a pair of KZ10s but my UE6s are now completely unusable because it seems my ear shape has changed a bit and now they just sound muffled and distorted. The KZ10s are great as long as you can keep stage noise down.
Is it possible to get the internal gubbins put in to a new custom mould or do you need to pay for a complete new set?

I used JMB for the first time to see if there was anything local to me after moving house and now I'm with a great bunch of people doing exactly what I want. Their ad was very clear and specific but they told me that they did get a load of useless replies before me.
I have noticed that there a number of people that post the same ad over and over again on a weekly basis (for months) looking for a band with no success. Assuming they do actually contact bands that are looking to fill positions (and not just sitting back and waiting for people to come to them) then the number of knock-backs they must have had must be huge.

Yep I agree, mine's 19mm. So's my 5 string Dimension...

My 72 Precision has a 40.8mm nut. Depth of the neck at the first fret (not including the fret height) is 22.4mm. It feels very similar to my Nate Mendel and his is advertised with a 41mm nut width and a slim C profile...

Is it worth getting an external camera mic?

I've got the Zoom Q8. It's the non 4k version and as above the video quality isn't iphone quality but the live recorded sound is superb. I can also supplement the mic recording with an additional two channels if needed.
