I’ve spent a long time tweaking my iem signal route to accurately reflect what I’m sending to foh, (compensated for the headphones), so that if I tweak the onboard eq (or passive tone) it’s in line with what the audience are hearing. This took bloomin ages to get right though!

This sounds like it's well worth doing. Any tips?

For me it makes no difference.

I use an active 5-string with one band and a passive bass VI with the other both go through a Line6 Helix and a good quality passive DI box which feeds the PA. All the "tone shaping" is done by the Helix. I never touch the controls on either bass.

I'm very similar, 5 strings, both passive and active in to Helix but them I'm going from Helix to PA. Should I be using a passive DI box too?

I'm using IEMs and I try to avoid if at all possible to modify any EQ once it's set, as what I might hear in my ears might not be the desired effect FOH.

    Ok pouches .. Neotech vs Levy’s MM4

Personally the Levy’s is better at staying put on the strap so the Neotech is my storage pouch for the transmitter while in the gig bag

Neotech does have the top strap to hold the transmitter in place but the Levy’s MM4 is a snug fit ( I use mine facing up not down )

I've always used the Neotech and found it great - never budged on my straps. I do have it facing down though now to relieve the strain on the cable. I previously had it upright and the cable failed at the locking connection due to being constantly bent at this point.  I got a new cable made from Designacable and ever since have mounted the transmitter upside down.

For those of you using Ultranet, where are you getting your gig-proof properly coilable Cat5 cables from?

In the days when I was running a BassPod and Floorboard which are connected by Cat5 I was getting through a cable every other month. I ended up buying a couple of very expensive Van Damme Cat5 leads which were a lot more robust, but even they were never as easy to coil up as a standard mic lead and eventually after a couple of years these failed as well.

I'm using a flat Cat6 cable in a retractable reel I bought off Amazon like this one

As a side note I did a midweek function on Tuesday where we used the A&H ME1 personal monitor setup, was all hardwired into the house PA and was extremely easy to use. Makes me think the Behringer equivalent would be a nice option for those who want mid set adjustments but don't want to use a phone or tablet or are a bit reluctant  relying on an app. Can learn the interface in seconds.

I use exactly this - P16M - a brilliant bit of kit. A lot quicker than using an app and you can adjust eq for each channel too. Give you stereo monitoring via the ultranet Cat5 cable from the XR18. This then goes out to my IEM transmitter and hey presto.

  6. So here we have a beautiful  American Original 60s Jazz in sunburst, with G&G case, never fitted ashtrays, mute foam, and all case candy.

There is a minor chip in the headstock logo at the end of the 'r' in Fender and also the headstock lacquer has got some minor cracks under the surface, but hopefully these are shown in the photos.

Collection or meet up please.  No trades needed.

    thanks

    Steve

so I need the Hipshot xtender for one drop and then the additional component todos second drop?

Yeah,  you buy the additional part and replace the part on the original extender with the new part and hey presto, you have a two stop lever.

  8. Hi guys

A colleague of mine is looking for a band for his wedding.  I asked him for as much detail as possible and got the below.

If you're free and interested, can you ping me a contact and I'll put you in direct touch with my colleague, thanks!

Location: The Cartlodge, Horam, East Sussex

    Date: 22nd July 2023

    Time: 19:00 – 22:30

Music: anything drunk people will dance and sing along to.

Band size: we are thinking 4 piece but I am sure 3 or 5 would also work.

Guests: 120 people ranging from 25 to 80 years old.

Food and drink will be provided – can be flexible (within reason) around any other requirements.

Our preference is for the band to play outside with all equipment under a large gazebo weather permitting. If the weather is forecasted to be wet, we can have the band inside.

Yes. That's my only issue with this head (that and the stupid taper of the output pot). It's an overly sensitive limiter. It's squashing my signal before it's even registering -10 on the VU. Through a speaker, it's not noticeable. But, through the DI, it's squashing and distorting my signal. Dave told me to exchange it. But, I bought it off their website, and I live in America. He hasn't gotten back to me again yet.

Has anyone here tried to bypass the limiter yet?

I'll check mine out through the DI but in general, the green light doesn't indicate clipping - green is ok. When it clips it flashes red.

  10. Here's a 2009 Stingray in excellent condition. Rash purchase of another unnecesary and expensive motorcycle forces sale.

It's in Cabernet Pearl - a very rare limited colour. In low light it looks like copper and in full daylight it has a wine pearl sparkle to its finish.

Includes strap locks, original hardcase, case candy, Hipshot D tuner and original tuner

Truss rod works and frets in very good condition.

    Weight is 4.50kg.

Collection preferred as I have no shipping box, no trades, I can travel a bit from South Northants but it can also be collected from Maidenhead.

Payment in cash, Paypal or cleared bank transfer.

  11. Wow I had two of these many years ago. Loved them but sold them for an SVT. Took me ages to find an original footswitch! From memory it did muting, channel switch, eq and boost. It was a lovely sounding amp. There's a valve in the pre that lights up in the little window by the gain dial.

ive always been totally against it for me as i don’t know how id feel about being in such a bubble and unconnected to the crowd

If you’ve not tried it how do you know you’re in a bubble and unconnected?  We play with no back line and electronic drums and as you point out, a couple of well placed condenser mics give all the audience feedback you need.  Check out the IEM bible thread for all the info youll ever need.  You don’t even need to get rid of your amps if you’d rather not…
