One thing, can I route the FX returns to the P16 like I can thew Aux channels? At the moment we have a vocal reverb for FOH, and use a second for the IEM mixes.
Yes - you just use the routing interface in the XR18. As long as you have a channel free in the P16 then you can route anything you like to it. I have vocal reverb linked to one channel too.

Jumping in here about the P16. Never used one, never thought id find a use for one, now I want one.
Im going to order one tomorrow, and will read up on it etc in the meantime. I get what it does, but I have two questions.
1. I assume I dont need to do anything at the XR18 end other than plug a Cat5 cable in? Can I now not bother plugging my IEM system in to the desk, and just plug in to the P16?
2. I get that the buttons along the bottom represent 16 channels coming from the XR18. Say I want to turn one of the guitars up, do I have to click on that channel button and move the volume knob? what im getting at is it looks like I have to have the buttons enabled first to get the sound going to the IEM's, or do I mute what I dont want to hear, but all the buttons will un illuminated unless I engage one to adjust its level?
I have been using a P16M for a few years and have just upgraded to the P16 HQ. You need to configure the XR18 first. You have to set the routing in it, so you have to tell it to output channel 1 on the desk to channel 1 on the P16 and so on. It's pretty straight forward. You can choose pre or post fade and pre/post FX. Then you need a cat5 cable out of the XR18 in to the P16 and then you route the output channels of your P16 to the input channels of your IEM transmitter. The output of the P16 can easily overload the input of the transmitter, so you need to be careful of the volume controls.
Changing channel volume is easy - press the channel you want, it lights up red (or orange if it is receiving a signal at the time) and adjust accordingly. The last set of settings used are the ones stored when the unit powers up again. You can also mute or solo channels if you like. I really like it.
The only issue I have is that you need to have your IEM transmitter close by the P16, rather than installed in your main rack (if you have one) otherwise you'll need to connect via a stagebox or similar. I've got a heath robinson solution at the moment, wher the P16 and IEM transmitter are housed together in a 3U rack case - all I need is the cat 5 cable from the desk.

A bit more on the app and the Spark NEO device.
When you switch on the Spark NEO, it goes looking for the last Bluetooth device it connected to, and then other paired devices if it doesn't find it. This is regardless of whether the Spark app is running on the device.
My Waza Air phones work this way too. It'll always connect to the last successful device if it can. If I want it to connect to another device I have to re-pair it..

Are you using a Behringer desk? Is using Ultranet and P16Ms (or now P16 -HQ as they are now called) a viable option?

I use a Barefaced super twin. They sound great together!

So here we have a beautiful American Original 60s Jazz in sunburst, with G&G case, never fitted ashtrays, mute foam, and all case candy. Never gigged and hardly played.
There is a minor chip in the headstock logo at the end of the 'r' in Fender as the logo is applied over the finish. I have a replacement decal if you want to fit that.
Collection please and no trades. Meet up is also possible and I commute to Maidenhead so anywhere along that M40 corridor is good too. Price is firm as I think it's a good deal.

I'm another Songbook Pro user. I hand write my notes and upload them as PDFs, then organise by band and by gig.

Same here - external router. The XR18 is defintely the way to go. Loads of AUX outs and we also use the Ultranet to feed P16Ms for in ear monitoring.

It opened no problem for me.
Here's a PDF rather than a .docx, try that.
Just pointing out that 'subtle' is spelled incorrectly on both the black and white versions. Sorry....

I can do this for you!

So, I just installed a set of Thumpers I've had hanging around for a few years and they're, well, very very thumpy. Now that seems fair enough given their title, but I'm a little surprised by an almost complete absence of top end to the point that the tone control makes a difference but it's pretty subtle. Is that normal for these - which I can't believe is the case but I'm prepared to be put right - or do I have a gremlin in the works?
That doesn't sound right to me. I have two sets of the original Thumpers installed and I certainly don't get that. There's more top end in them than say a set of SD QPs..

Positioned just behind the PA cabs pointing inwards and rearwards? Something like this with the mics aimed pretty much at the drummer:
PA cab PA cab
mic Me Vox/git1 Git2 mic
Bass amp Shedbuilder Git1 Git2
amp amp
I have mine on a twin stand, X/Y formation at the front centre of the stage.

Whereabouts in Northants are you? I have a FS4 that maybe you can try out to see if it's the footswitch or the amp?

My guy! I'm definitely still considering the p16m but that might be an future upgrade once I get the system up and running. One question though on daisy chaining. Presumably I can just run 1 cat5 from the xr18 into the first p16m and then 'thru' to the next and so on and they can have their own dedicated mix?
Yes exactly. You can daisy chain them using the in/thru sockets (with each needing its own power supply) or feed them an individual cat 5 cable from the P16D splitter - which I think means they don't need separate power.
Either way, each unit gets 16 channels from the XR18 that can be mixed, panned, eq'd etc completely independently of each other and independently of every other P16M. In stereo.

After a million YouTube and reddit rabbit holes think I've sussed what I'm going to do.
P1 velcro'd to our pedalboards for those wanting stereo (me). 2 xlr each ran from the monitor rack next to drum riser to pedalboards. If mono, I'm going to create a loom with a trs and xlr going from guitar amp to pedalboard. trs for amp to pedalboard and xlr from aux out on monitor to P1 on the board. Then another loom that's headphone extension cable and trs to plug into my bass (stereo iem mix). For the other 2 (guitars) they can have a shorter xlr combined with their guitar cable which will go to their p2 they'll wear on their belts.
I reckon I'm gonna go ampless first, they might take some more convincing.
All sounds very complicated to me!
What happened to your XR18/P16M idea? I run that setup and it's perfect. You can then run the P16M in to a wireless unit or from the headphone out in to a P1. You already have experience of the P16M so you know how good it is when modifying your own stereo mix..

I’ve fallen out of love with the NUX. In some environments you can hear a level of background noise which is sort of ‘gated’ with an Audible ‘pop’.
I'm the same. Whatever we try in a gig situation this thing is introducing a noticeable hiss, and when everyone is running IEMs this isn't acceptable. I'm also experiencing the pronounced top end. I can dial this out with EQ but I don't want to have to adjust it every time. I'm persevering for the time being but keep switching ba k to the GLXD....

To me it sounds like your unit is defective, and I would suggest that you send it back for replacement or refund.
That’s where I’d pretty much got to as no one else seems to be suffering the same as me, so back it goes. I’ll exchange it as I want to persevere! Thanks!

I've got a NUX 5.8GHz system as well. It has been used for 6 gigs, including two outdoors and one on a large stage, and about 10 rehearsals without any problems so far
You're gonna have to tell me what I'm doing wrong! I normally run a GLXD+ plugged in to a Helix (no backline, in ears from a Sennheiser G4) but reading this thread I bought one of these and tried it last night. Dreadful latency and thin tone were the first things I noticed, and a high pitched hum through the PA and everyone's IEMs. Switched back to the Shure and everything back to normal.
And I don't like the fact that you can't have the transmitter section flush with the bass body as the plug doesn't angle 90 degrees unless you fold it back on itself. It's clearly not designed to be used that way though as it has a small disc of protective foam on one side but not the other.... home use only for me I'm afraid..

Shure GLXD16+ seems to tick all my boxes........any feedback from anyone who has this system? - Where do you put the Tx?
It's a great system. Adds a tuner to your pedal board, too. The 'Tx' has a belt clip but i keep mine in a pouch attached to my guitar strap.

Get some copper tape and shield the cavity, make sure you link the bridge ground to it. Don't need to buy the expensive stuff, can get 5m off AliExpress for about £3.50 which works fine.
Thanks, that’s now on my list of things to do. It’s only recently started happening though so I’m wondering if there’s a component failure somewhere….

i have a Fender 18v active circuit in a Dimension bass. I'm getting low background buzz (not hum) which goes away when strings are touched but when pots are touched (vol, treble, mid, bass) the buzzing increases dramatically. When I use the Boss Waza headphones (i.e. wireless) no buzz at all and the sound is perfect. There is no active passive switch.
Things I have checked
Batteries
Leads
Amp
Location
Solder joints
Bridge grounding
Output jack
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Steve

New to me 5 string USA P arrived yesterday.
It is absolutely wonderful to play. Got it setup with Ken Smith master series taper core strings which are my new favourite roundwounds, got two other P’s strung with flats so decided for rounds on this one.
Going to gig it tonight so really looking forward to seeing how it performs!
Only question now is… gold anodised pickguard or not?!
They don't come as standard, but I find the B string retainer works well on these 5 strings

I have one too. I fitted a B string retainer and swapped the pickups for Nordstrands and it's superb.
