I've had my Evo for a few months now and love it. However, one thing I noticed is that if I use the Active socket, the output is super low. I usually use my passive Jazz or Precision in the Passive socket and the output is fine but when I plug my active Stingray into the Active socket it is super quiet.

Is this normal or do I have an issue.

Yep quite normal.  I've never ever used the active input. You'd only ever need to use if if the output on your bass was so hot that it was overdriving the input even at its lowest setting. Maybe if the bass has active pickups (as opposed to an onboard preamp/active circuit)....

The ability to pan everything for separation takes IEMs to another level.  Everything in my IEMs is panned to match the location of the backline relative to where each instrument is on stage...it's a whole new world!

Where is your point of reference, straight ahead in the middle or from where you normally stand on stage?

  3. My band is now all fully in ears, no backline, electronic drums, guitar and bass modellers and is sounding superb.  We have a XR18, there are five of us and we all now want to run stereo monitoring, with space on the desk only for one person to do so currently.  What options are available, if any, to expand the monitoring capability without buying a digital desk with 10 aux channels?

I don't think I need to describe this at all - most people know about these and their reputation. This is a Flea Jazz Bass from the Artist Signature series in as-new, roadworn condition as shown in the photos. It comes with the original gig bag and case candy (which is just a plastic bag of labels and stickers to be honest). These are retailing now at £1,300 if you can find one.

If you need the specs then these are below.

I would really prefer collection but happy to meet up within reasonable distance of Silverstone/Maidenhead.

Damn that is one fine rig! I see a lot of Fender Ps + ABMs + Barefaceds!

Im just not sure how will I feel lugging a Six10 up and down stage on and off car etc… the band does help and I am going to the gym (I’ve lost 14kg by the way…!) but am I just making excuses? I hear some of you say ‘shut up and buy it’…!

The 610 is light. Handles on both sides and I can pick it up and pop it in the car. And a handle on top and wheels. It’s not like the 610 cabs of old. And yes, BF with a Precision and an ABM just works!

I am loosely considering pairing my upcoming ABM with a Barefaced Six10... Knowing I had probs plenty with a Super Twin or similar... Overkill for a punk rock trio? :D

It is not overkill. Definitely not. Not in any way.

Milton Keynes. We’ve got the Theatre for watching shows, The Stables for tributes and heritage acts and The Craufurd Arms for younger stuff and touring rock acts. Stony Stratford, which is part of MK has a thriving folk scene and three or four pubs that regularly have gigs and open mics. There’s also various estate pubs that have bands and some pubs in the older parts that have been swallowed up by the city, Newport Pagnell and Fenny Stratford come to mind. We’re also only half an hour from Northampton and Bedford so yeah, a good place to be.

For a reasonably sized City (rather than a town) I've always been disappointed by Milton Keynes. It's size and location should make it a prime location for live music but I don't think it's anywhere near as good as it should be. The Stables is well attended but mainly by the over 50s, MK11 and The Craufurd don't get nearly the footfall that they should. It doesn't get the touring bands that Oxford or Northampton or even Bedford get and the pub covers scene is scattered around the villages.  It could be so much more..

If you support a minimum wage, pensions, sick pay, maternity leave, H&S, etc that's the price for UK made stuff It's a difficult dilemma.

I’m just happy to support a UK company with customer service second to none.

  9. Still getting used to it but a few gigs down now. There's the immediate comfort feeling that you know what you are getting and you are definitely getting the ABM sound, but it's clearer, tighter and with more definition at higher volumes. Is it louder? Well, I never turned my EVO IV to max so I don't know. I guess it must be a little. The fan is super quiet and kicks in only when needed, and the DI is superb quality apparently according to the sound guy.  The controls are reassuringly Ashdown and give the same amount of adjustment as we're used to. It seems to weight the same if not a little less than my rackmount 600 IV. Could be me, or the valve fitted but the drive seems smoother.

There's a big 'but', and I'm going to have to have a word with Mark, Dan and Dave. Both the input and the output controls are notched, like the output control on the RM EVOIIs. I hate it.  Really hate it.  It's going to have to change.

Is it worth the money, I guess is the big question?  To me, given a) I bought it b) it's UK built and c) it looks bloody fantastic then yes, but objectively I'd find it difficult to argue against going for a 600 EVO IV, as that amp is so good.  I'm just pleased it's not as nasty as that horrible Darkglass thing I bought......

Onwards and upwards. I love it, I'm keeping it and the ABM 600 EVO IV is sold pending collection...

  10. Here we have what is undoubtedly the best amp I have ever owned and I've had a few. Rackmount chrome faced version in very good condition.  Checked and serviced by Guy Morel at Ashdown two years ago.

Don't think I need to explain it much more. Comes with the shallow Gator case, pictured.

Collection please from Silverstone, Milton Keynes, Peterborough or Maidenhead.
