I’ve only got the studio 10 -I use it as a practice amp just for my den - but it’s got great features and a classic baked in Ashdown sound, which is the sound in my head. I dont think you’d go wrong with that range.

There was a bit of discussion already here:
Bit confused - you've just posted a link to the thread that you've just posted in which is in fact this thread.

I get a lot of background 'hiss' when using the headphones with the RM800. Not noticeable when playing or with music in the aux feed, but on its own it's quite annoying. I just don't use it with headphones any more.

Not that they're "late to the show", they've just updated the range. The BA combo's have been out for years.
Anyway, they look interesting.
Yes good point, I forgot about them. I even had one of the 210s and the 115HP before that. Neither set my world alight unfortunately.

I think now Yamaha are running the show they've got some good business guys in who've identified that there's a pretty big market segment that they were missing out on with their previous hefty combos. They've joined the party now and I'm sure they'll sound great. Just a shame it's taken a while. And as far as price, wow....!

Just seen these. Ampeg are a bit late to the party here I reckon and are turning up with nothing special on the face of it. Could be a reasonable competitor for the Rumble (although that’s moved on now) or the Ashdown studio range. Depends how good the Ampeg sound is replicated.

I usually run my BF210 vertically too. No problem with volumes at pub gigs. Output is around 10 or 11 o'clock depending on venue size.
Same here, with no problems. Although the RM800 through a BF610 is lovely....!

Bucking the Ashdown cab trend with either a BF 210, 610 or Supertwin, depending on my mood..

I was originally running mine with the shape button in and a slight reduction of bass control and the rest flat but ..
I tried to get a less deep and more full and punchy sound and found shape button out and EQ set as .....
Is this through a cab or also with headphones? I'm off to try it!

With these settings I think it sounds really cool. In a rehearsal there was a problem though. I was given a Fender Rumble 500 , so I plugged the Ashdown to the return of the amp. It didn't have enough signal since the input is relatively low. I have to say that I'd used it this way with other amps without any problems, but not with the Rumble. Anyway, when plugged through the DI it sounded awesome and no problem.
I've got a Rumble 500 somewhere. I'll dig it out and try this.

I had a chrome red 2007 jazz. There was a sticker in the neck pocket that gave the colour code.

I've always sworn by Hiscox cases and even when flying my guitars have arrived safely after being in the hold.. I do have a couple of the current Fender Deluxe ABS cases too which are really nice and seem pretty rugged.

Odd how these little things either niggle or add a little something isn't it?
Yeah I know, it's just such a small thing! I don't like being forced to set the knob in a particular position, however miniscule. It certainly won't stop me from using the amp at every opportunity mind!

Yes it has positions 👍
Good feature
I hate it. It's the only thing I'd change!

The headphone out is a tad noisy but you can’t hear it when playing. Dave Green told me not to use quality headphones, in jest mind. I love the sound out of this and it’s my default preamp for recording. I’d like to test different valves too. I have the yellow/gold version but I’m not sure of the difference if any between that and the red one. Mark Gooday mentioned that the difference was ‘More drive’ .....

If the Valve Drive could be more subtle it would be awesome. I think it's too aggressive and you have to play with the input and get used to it.
Have you tried to swap out the valve? I started to give it a go but you can't get to it from the rear or the front of the pedal, so unless I'm missing something a pretty comprehensive dismantle may be required...
-
Have they changed the name? When I bought one it was called the OriginAL Valve DI and it's still called that on Ashdown's page...
Anyway, I have the yellow Norman Watt Roy edition and it's brilliant.
Here's a review that @Merton wrote last year which covers pretty much everything. I think at £200 it's a great deal.

Typical settings ....
Interesting. First glance suggests your EQ settings are partly cancelling out the use of the Shape EQ?

I had no idea there even was a sub-harmonics function on this amp... 🙈
That was it then?

...as explained in the other thread...to my ears, hearing like a "double" signal almost...I need to play with the EQ, drive, input settings more...
Yes I read that. I can only think it's coming from the sub harmonics. I'm pretty sure I'm not experiencing anything like that. I'll check through headphones later just to be sure.

I posted this photo on the other thread but I'll repeat it here. RM800 EVO II. Something I have noticed with this amp (apart from the notched volume control which I really don't like but I know Mr @Merton does) is that because it is so light and the rubber feet are quite hard, it vibrates itself off the top of the cab. I have to put something on top to hold it down, or leave it in the bag. I'm sure the slippy BF cab surface doesn't help either.
The Shape button setting is also different to my ABM600 and my Studio 10 practice amp. On these two, Shape is flat when the button is IN. on the RM, Shape is flat when the button is OUT.

These things often get 'found' a while after the event when Managing Directors or CEOs get involved. Worth continued escalation IMHO. It may not be theft, but just plain incompetent service.

I had two of the four string versions. The build quality was excellent and the neck was superb, albeit too narrow for my liking. I installed a John East DJ Retro preamp which was a great addition. The paint finishes are very deep too. I had a white pearl and a sky blue one which were lovely.

Ordered tons of stuff from GAK and never had a problem. Returning stuff has also been fine and they also collected, repaired and returned a bass to me inside 10 days. I never pay via PayPal.
The only music shop I’ve ever had problems with is Gear 4 Music. Twice. You win some you lose some eh?

Same here - mines the one with the pedal board receiver/tuner. Brilliant kit but not cheap.
