So, outdoors gigs are now back on then, for those that want to play them. With appropriate social distancing measures of course......

Are there any new laws regarding buying/selling basses between UK and EU? Has somebody any experience with this? Anybody here paid customs fees?
No change yet, but new rules planned to come in to effect at the end of the year. What these new rules are is anyone's guess.....

Interesting. No EQ and doesn't appear to accommodate a direct instrument input - manual suggests via pedalboard or amp - but the design, as per usual, is lovely and it's got bluetooth, at last.
And it's expensive.

There is always another vintage Fender round the corner.
For us, most definitely. For the OP, who is based in Argentina, I would have no idea.

3.8 To enter the competition by post, send your: Name, address, DOB, contact phone number, email address, exact name of the competition / draw you wish to enter for, the correct answer for the named competition’s skill based challenge, addressed to: The Bass Draw, 7 Poplars Road, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, MK18 1BQ.
It feels to me that this is more a really naive and clumsy way of trying to shift some bass gear rather than a focused scam - looking on facebook thy are talking about Barefaced cabs, Markbass amps etc. There is some degree of bass knowledge and given the reach of Basschat it wouldn't surprise me. Obviously all that in itself could be scam/stolen photos, info etc.

Wouldn't be surprised if the 'organiser' is a member here...

i also asked him to take the bass apart but he said the bass is calibrated and bla bla.
There's no calibration he's going to disrupt by taking it apart. If he wants to sell a vintage instrument this is what he should do! Good luck.

Th pictures are limited. Photos of the pickups, pots, neck and neck pocket would help, but it looks on the face of it to be genuine. The pickguard is not original, the knobs are not original. The serial number is where I would expect it and checks as a 1971. I can't tell if the frets have been added
More detailed photos as I mentioned would help but it seems real enough Ask your seller if he can take the bass apart. I'd say based on UK values it's a reasonable price, maybe a little overpriced.

Agreed. But I'd say no real need to loosen strings when loosening as the string tension is going in your direction. Unlike when tightening ??? Views of luthiers here most welcome.
True, but as @Hellzero says, if you’re not sure, being extra cautious will do no harm at all. It’s an extra 30 seconds in the grand scheme of things. I’ll admit I rarely do!

Holding down the first and last frets the strings are flat against the frets, so this a loosen job... I think?
yep. So stick your allen key or whatever in the adjustment hole and from your photo position, lever right, towards your G string. As Tony says, I'd loosen the strings off a bit.

Regardless of whether it's left handed, turning the wheel clockwise will straighten the neck, turning it anti-clockwise will add relief.
This is when viewed from the opposite of your photo. You should be sighting from the wheel towards the headstock.
Before making any adjustments have you measured the action to know if there is too much or too little relief?

There's a GK200 on facebook marketplace for £150 - not mine!

I think we all know what this is so I probably don’t need to post the specs. Cheapest I can find online is £149.99. Full MOT and Insurance, both keys, motorway mileage only, no tyre kickers, first to see will buy etc....
This is unused other than to try it out once (well twice now as I just tested it to check it works and updated to v2.20 firmware). Box, manuals, adaptor, ugly black bag, all included.
Happy with a socially distanced exchange or post for an extra
£7nothing. No trades as I’ve a GAS fund that’s looking very empty.Thank you

I would certainly not class them as 'budget' as that has low quality connotations but if we are considering affordable and value for money then the Chowny range is excellent.

@Muppet I reversed it back to what I know as 'normal' when I installed the new pups.
I'd have done the same. Does it look like that was original wiring?

I would have expected the other way round but a ground is a ground isn't it? I don't know if there is a reason for doing it this way.

Sadly for me, the programme was pretty lame. Rather obvious, unfunny and badly played IMHO, had to abandon it half way through. 😧
Echoes my thoughts. I was hoping for a clever dig at the Bros documentary but it was just a bit silly - too Chuckle Brothers for me.

How much.......?????
I might buy a second one at that price...
-
Bought one when they first came out, loved it, didn't play it, sold it.
Missed it, so bought another from here, loved it, didn't play it, sold it.
Missed it, bought a THIRD from here, still loving it, still not playing it as much as I should....
I don't learn from my mistakes...
Interesting to note that the relicing has changed slightly over time, mainly around the edges.
-
Yes you are correct it's fine to do that. I asked Darkglass the same question. Interestingly on the V1 it is labelled Preamp out/Poweramp In but Darkglass changed it as so many people asked if it could be used as an effects loop. And yes it's post EQ and microtubes but pre Master.

Is your Scarlett registering an input signal at all?
-
I use an app called OnSong specifically for this. I create a library of songs per band and then I can create setlists from this library. My crib sheets are in PDF form created from Word. I upload them into Dropbox and them import them in to OnSong on my iPad. It also works with a bluetooth connected footswitch to turn pages, if that's your thing.

I mean no disrespect to him but he was using off the shelf parts i beleive, all be it high quality ones and with very neat soldering. Very good cables, but....well they are only cables at the end of the day
True, but with Dave you got a bespoke service, rather than buying off the shelf. Yes he uses the same Neutrik connectors, Klotz/Van Damme cable as others do but you could talk through exactly what you needed with him and he's make it to spec. If all you're after is a 6m guitar lead then fair enough, but if you need a 3.5mm jack with a locking nut to a self muting right angled 1/4" jack it's tricky. Designacable as mentioned above do provide more of a specialist service but not quite to OBBM levels, in my opinion.

Pubs opening July 4th - Gigs?

The published guidance
"We have developed a five-stage roadmap to bring our performing arts back safely. These five stages of the phased return to performing arts are as follows:
Stage One - Rehearsal and training (no audiences)
Stage Two - Performances for broadcast and recording purposes
Stage Three - Performances outdoors with an audience and pilots for indoor performances with a limited socially-distanced audience
Stage Four - Performances allowed indoors and outdoors (but with a limited socially-distanced audience indoors)
Stage Five - Performances allowed indoors / outdoors (with a fuller audience indoors)
On the date of publication we are at Stages One and Two of this roadmap. This means that we are now supporting musicians, dancers and actors, and the technical and operational teams that support performing arts production, to safely resume training, rehearsals and recorded performances where organisations wish and are able to. Dance studios can also reopen for professional dancers and choreographers, and should follow guidance on indoor sports facilities.
From the 11th July, we will move to Stage Three. This means that performances outdoors with a socially distanced audience can take place in line with this guidance. "
