  1. Yeah that's true. It's like some people rate TI's and LaBella Flats and to me, those aren't in my top 5 flats. IMO/IME, I reckon it's how the strings mate to your pickup. I've tried the same string on several basses (p-bass and jazz) and they sound garbage. Then I put them on my Warwick and they sound perfect. So on my Warwick I have GHS Flats, my parts p-bass with MEC actives I have Dunlop Flats and my daughters p-bass with DiMarzio Relentless Middle pickups has the Fender 9050L strings. But yeah, definitely horses for courses 😊👍🏽
  2. I just tried the GHS Precision flats because I got some cheap. I normally use Dunlop and found the Fender 9050L flats are good too. I was pleasantly surprised with the GHS Flats. Very nice and they complement my active pickup on my Warwick bass. I think they'll be my go-to flatwounds for awhile.
  3. Love to hear updates once you try the regular tension..... It "might" sway me from my GHS Precision flats, but that will be a big ask 😉
  4. Yep a deep hole indeed. But that's another good thing you're doing, watching some of your favourite bass players and checking out what they use. I found though, all the bass players I like, I never gelled with the basses they use. They all use Precision and Jazz Basses and my go to and favourite is active Warwick basses. So yeah, definitely try out a few and see what sounds good to your ears and what feels good in your hands! 👍🏽
  5. Welcome Laura! 👍 I think Kiwi above got most of your questions covered. How's the bass playing going?
  6. Welcome @Cjay9 First bass guitar...............that's a tricky one. We all have our favourites & preferred brands etc. First recommendation I would say is, go to all your local music shops & try out what they have to offer. Then you should get an idea on what feels best for you & what sound you like. Let me know how you go! 😎👍
  7. Welcome Joel! 😎
  8. Welcome AJ!! 😎
  9. Welcome Hugh! As soon as I read your comment about your first bass, a Maton, I thought, he's from Aussie. Then I saw you are. Cheers mate!
  10. Did you end up selling it?
  11. If only I lived in South Shields or within a few hundred miles. Great cabs!
  12. My Chinese Ebay roasted maple neck on my parts bass. Gave it several light coats of Rustins Danish Oil & she's sweet as!
  13. Sounds like if i purchase the Puma 900, my Genz Benz heads will be my back up...............or as you mentioned, possibly moved on................very tempting the one on TB.
  14. That sounds perfect! One control to change between Hi-Fi and vintage. I seriously will consider purchasing it on TB. Cheers!
  15. I like simple & effective 👍
