1. First time I've been on my PC since Sunday! Thanks to everyone for a great day. Let's get the next one in the calendar soon. I went from the Bas Bash to band practice and I think the two guitarists in my band were a bit miffed that we hadn't spent the day talking about how "our" guitarists wind us up. They're not used to not being the centre of attention! Note to self: Next time, bring some stands. And a name badge. I've forgotten everyone's name too, atlhough I do have a couple of names scribbled on a bit of paper. Dave.C - Thanks again for the flats. I'll let you know as soon as I've fitted them.
2. Lots of people seem to be dropping out! How many people are actually coming along now?
3.
woop! see you there, and well done on the organisation! I think its me, Dood and BassCat in car with a shedload of basses... day trippers!
I'm heading down from Norwich too if you need a bit more room - with just a couple of basses and a pedal board. I see the hall's booked from 10am. What time is everyone pitching up? When will most people be there? I don't want to be hanging around all by myself for hours. I'll have to leave mid-afternoon. I hope I don't miss the best bits!
4. Here's my Mike Dirnt signature: I don't play it much nowadays, but it was the first "proper" bass I bought new, so it's staying.
5. Guitar & Bass Magazine rates them very highly indeed.
6. So is it happening or not, please? I'm under pressure to make a commitment for next Sunday and I'd hate to miss this if it is really going to go ahead.
7. How much are we talking about? If it's £10, then why not charge everyone £11 to make sure the cost is covered? If more people turn up on the day, charge them £10 and refund £1 to those of us who paid £11 in advance to secure the hall.
8. Can I join the list, please? Thank 'ee.
9. I was told the strong Yen meant they became unprofitable for Fender. I'm on the lookout for a red one...
10. You can't get new Fender Jags, so it'll depend on whether or not you hanker after a brand new one.
11.
neat., but don't you find better results with the octave pedal nearer to the beginning of the chain ?
Would I? I'll give it a go. Thanks.
12.
You want strings that just look black or are you after the tapewound sound ?
Just the look (call me shallow)! I've not played tapewound strings, so can't really judge the sound. None of my local shops (all three of 'em) stock black strings. Any idea where I can order Labella or Status strings? Thanks.
13. Mine's pretty straightforward. Sticking to one brand makes it a piece of cake to assemble the board!
14. My Variax: And my Aria: Come to think of it my new (to me) Corvette $$ is also black. I didn't plan a collection of black basses, honest! I don't want to hijack the thread, but I'd like to put black strings on my Warwick. Any suggestions/recommendations?
15. I've bought a Warwick Corvette $$ from Mark. It was exactly as he described in his messages and pictures - warts and all. I was happy to hand over the asking price - it was a fair price and he is an honest and open seller. (It's easy to park outside his house as well, even if he does live in The Smoke.)
16. Hey! Is this an idea for a new "show us yours" thread?
17. Here's mine: Complete with trailer for band gear.
18. I have a Zoom multi-effects pedal for when I want to play through my headphones. I've a half-decent array on my pedalboard, but the wah only gets used as a volume pedal for a couple of bass-heavy intros the band plays and I hardly ever use the rest - bit of an OTT way to carry my tuner around, in fact. The guitarists in both my bands use a fair amount of effects (flanger, overdrive, phaser in the rock band and spring reverb/echo in the surf band). Perhaps it's another thing that ties us bassists together - love of our own sound?

21. Welcome! Is it appropriate to mention the East Anglia Bass Bash at this juncture?
22. Anything by The Donnas. Rock + female vocalist = pretty fine in my book.
23. I've been on the look out for one of these for ages. By luck I spotted the thread almost as soon as it was posted, so I sent a PM begging first refusal. By chance, I was due to drive to London on business (first time for months - usually it's by train to central London) and, as luck would have it, my meeting was about six miles from Ahpook's house. What a set of lucky coincidences! Anyhow, the bass was seen, tried and bought without a moment's hesitation. Took it to band practice last night (not the surf band, the "normal" rock covers band) and the response was that it's the best-looking bass I (now) have. Better change my sig.
