  1. MV up 3 quarters and adjust gain for volume usually at gigs. Less MV at home of course. There's no right or wrong, just personal preference.
  2. The Ampeg pre amp is really simple but effective and makes perfect sense to me. Like you say , it just works. I don't think you could make that amp sound bad , just dial in what sounds good to you and enjoy it.
  3. The Fender and Ampeg combination is a classic sound!
  4. I'm glad you like it...you made a great choice 🤘
  5. Last couple of gigs I had the master at 3 o'clock (3 quarters up) and gain at about 10 o'clock. I cut the bass slightly, boosted mids (800) and slight treble boost...this was pretty loud for a mid sized room , punchy and quite clean. I always use the gain to set the overall volume level.
  6. That's a perfect combination, enjoy 🤘
  7. I have the V4B and 212AV cab. This rig is plenty powerful enough for gigging with a rock band. I played a medium sized room last week, drums etc were through the pa but my bass wasn't. Really punchy and got loads of positive comments about how it sounded out front. Best sounding rig I've ever had.
  8. Looks pretty good , but the lack of mid control on the Ampeg side doesn't make sense to me , as that's where a lot of classic SVT tones can be dialled in. I would rather just have the Ampeg and Marshall options with their own eq sections and not bother with the high gain part. Does look interesting though.
  9. Orange 4 Stroke...if you can find one.
  10. I also asked them about shipping to the UK but didn't get a reply...as a result they didn't get my business!
  11. Yes , can get very loud and punchy.
  12. Yes I've been using one for a couple of years now. Great cabs that work well with all my amps.
  13. Precision-Man....I like it 😀
  14. This is what I've done to mine. Bartolini MM humbucker with a John East MM 2 band pre amp. I think the mix of vintage and modern really works here, looks cool and sounds thunderous! The mods were done by Jim Fleeting by the way , I'm not skilled enough to do this sort of thing.
  15. Sewing machine oil works a treat and only requires a tiny amount.
  16. I had a 212 Vanderkley cab for a few years and I much prefer this Ampeg cab. I don't use the tweeter , it just sounds great with every amp and has plenty of mid punch. It's especially good with my V4B.
  17. Great cabs , I've used mine for the past 18 months or so and works well with every amp I have. A good purchase!
  18. http://jtamps.com/products/ I've been using the Alpha di for a little while now , not cheap but totally worth every penny.
  19. Broughton SV-Pre, Ampeg in a pedal. Didn't think I'd be selling this but needs must to fund a couple of recent purchases. As new condition, has 3M tape underneath for securing to your board. Bought directly from Broughton and only been lightly used. Price includes UK delivery, or can collect if local and I'll knock a few quid off. Also includes the original box .
  20. Dave bought my Cioks DC5 , fast payment and a very friendly chap! Thanks again , Dave.
  21. Hartke Hydrive 210 cabs are sealed. Very punchy and can handle a decent amount of power.
