  1. I have a set of Elites Detroit Flatwounds and a set of Elites Groundwounds. Both cut for 4-in-a-row fender style headstock with plenty of winds (i only usually snip the E). Both have had minimal play time but new project requires 'orrible zingy rounds. £15 each set of £25 for both. Price includes UK postage
  2. These definitely sit in the old school camp. Never tried dunlop but ive read they are more ‘modern’ type ala chromes/fender?
  3. These came on my cabronita bass but the owner didnt know what they were. Standard brass ball ends, black silks at both ends. Glassy shiny ala la bella, not massive tension, very even and even though they are thumpy the E is not a dead thunk. Tempted to say possibly the Marooooooosik’s that are sold by bass direct but cant be sure. Any ideas?
  4. There was one cheap bass that i traded in at a local crack converters. Probably not worth much but since has become something that would be sentimental now. It was a Samick Artist Series bass but in a colour/style i havent seen before. Its exactly the same as this picture of one for sale in Turkey of all places. I bought it from Sam's Guitars in Bangor, North Wales when i was working on Anglesey around 1999/2000 and sold it in bolton around 2001/2002
  5. Fender 7150 pure nickels are my go to rounds when i need rounds. As a flats player these are the only rounds i can tolerate
  6. Just watched an old video of my band where i used a Mesa MPulse 360 live.  THAT tone!?!  Why did i ever sell it :(

  7. Taken from a MIM Fender Cabronita bass as I have replaced it with a blade style pickup. Nice beefy tone (once you swap out the terrible .22 cap in the Cabbies to a standard .47 jobbie) and would be great for someones wacky project. No stickers on this to say whether its bridge or neck but online talk is the Fenders shipped with bridge pups and the Squiers with neck ones – the bridge being a tad hotter. Fully working, adjustable polepeices and a great eye catching alternative to more ‘standard’ style pickups. Comes with mounting screws and even has the small ear clips if your bass/project requires them rather than the standard UV mount that the Cabronita takes and will be boxed and posted to your UK door within the asking price of £65
  8. Bought this for a project (cabronita bass) but no longer needed. New and unused. £20 inc P&P to your UK address
  9. Please bare with me here, my ‘technical’ knowledge is lacking so I may well ramble here…. I have a Fender Cabronita bass that I want to replace the pickup in. Main reason being the well documented misaligned pole pieces. I have corrected it slightly with a threaded saddle bridge but looking over on Talkbass the consensus seems to be that the TV Jones blade pickups are a good upgrade. This is where it becomes a bit foggy – TV Jones state their blade ‘bass’ pickup is a “Thunderblade” which specs out at DCR – 4.0k and Inductance 1.74H. However, several TB’ers seem to suggest the TV Jones Superton (advertised by TV Jones as a guitar pickup) is exactly the same as the Thunderblade just in a different casing. The specs do differ slightly though when I look further into it with the Superton speccing in at DCR 4.0K and inductance 1.81h. I do much prefer the look of the Supertron, its more readily available and it does seem to be the pup Fender used on their limited run of Cabronita Borrocha basses. Would the seemingly (to my amateur mind) small variation in inductance affect the tone massively? I don’t want a toppy guitar like pickup but the fact Fender seems to put the Supertons in the Borrocha basses plus the insistence by TB’ers that the pups are one and the same suggests there may be only a very slight difference between the two pups that are advertised as “bass” and “guitar”
  10. I do want to give these another go. I remember mine being almost a Mesa BB750 for nearly quarter of the price. As you say, it does the ‘tubey/valvey’ thing very well
  11. Sorry, come home to 6 PMs about this. Will reply now but please consider as sold
  12. Came off my Cabronita bass. Needed a threaded saddle to sort pickup/string spacing issue. Doesnt come with screws unfortunately but if replacing a BBOT bridge you will already have some 😊. £20 posted in UK
  13. Desperate price drop before the bass im after goes If willing to collect or can deliver locally id take a hit and let it go for £375
  14. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  15. Was sold on ebay but buyer never paid or got in touch to arrange collection 🤬. As such back up for sale
  16. Id say medium/high. Nowhere near roto’s but not floppy noodles like TI’s. May have a used set knocking round if you want to give them a wirl
  17. I love their flats but my one big bugbare with them is their over long E string. Been like that for years and causes the body of the string to wrap round the tuning post. Still sound great but it cant be good for the string? i was told a while back that the Elites are made by GHS which may explain the above as i had the same “issue” with the E on the GHS Precision flats
  18. Price dropping to £450 as something has cropped up that has fired my GAS up
  19. Bass wise a 90's reissue Epiphone Rivoli in Cherry Red which i sold to an Irish band called the Sea Pinks. Too many an amp to mention - Ampeg Sb12, Sound City 200 Mk3, Ampeg SVT II non pro, Ampeg SVT III Non pro....
  20. So I'm a big fan of tube tone and for home use i have an Ashdown LB30 going into a Ampeg 212AV - very moveable and great sound. However, through sheer laziness I've recently been using the in house old Peavey 1x15 combo at our rehearsal space and whilst it sounds ok its not amazing. I've also never been a pedal kinda guy, just plug my P's straight into the amp and away i go - generally looking for a slight breakup to the notes without full on distortion. On my daily browse of Richtones second hand site i saw the Dr Sparrow bass driver for not much £ and thought 'maybe i can make that old peavey sound a bit more....er....valvey' So anyway, its now on its way to me. Anyone else here use these cheap seemingly VT Bass clones? Anyone getting that "Ampeg SVT on the verge of breakup" type tone or am i expecting way too much?
  21. I recently was in the market for a Mesa Big Block 750 and came across theirs for about £1,600!?!?!
  22. All my basses weear flats. Every now and again i think i want some more 'growl' or 'zing' and i put rounds on....then miss the thump and 'bigness' of flats
  23. Going to temporarily pull this whilst i have a think. It sounded too good tonight at rehearsal and i really think i need to concentrate on getting a gigging amp rather than start swapping basses etc back up for sale. Seen a Cabronita bass that has tickled my pickle. Would consider trades/part ex for a black cabronita bass or maybe an Ampeg SVT III Non Pro (or older 'coloured logo' 3pro)
  24. I have heard that before. I liked both to be honest, found Status flats a little less dark than Picato but i have definitely heard in other places that Picato made Status strings
