  2. Welcome back sir! I was wondering where you’d gone. Hope all is well
  3. Great post @Phil Starr - clear and succinct 👍🏻
  4. I did an A/B with my Glockenklang Blue Rock at last night’s band practice. They’re obviously amps with different design goals but they have very similar formats and power outputs so I thought it would be fun. The Glock is clearly much more transparent and “flat” with everything at noon, the Trace has a baked in EQ curve which is very musical and pleasing to my ears. Once I’d tweaked EQs (mainly on the Glock) there wasn’t a huge amount of difference at all. The Glock had a crisper top end but that was about it. In a rock band setting I think the Trace wins out. It was a fun experiment
  5. I’ll be bringing the new Trace Elliot TE-1200 head as well as whatever else I said previously - if anyone has an old Trace 7- or 12-band head we could A/B them for a bit of wonderful bass geekery 🤓
  6. Of course you can (I’ve invited the son of an old school friend, for example, who’s not on Basschat!)
  7. Loving it so far A few comments here:
  8. Finally got the chance to use the TE-1200 on a loud pub gig last night; no bass in the PA so onstage rig was doing it all. Cabs were a pair of Barefaced Two10s. To say the rig delivered would be an understatement. Whatever I fed it from my HX Effects - clean, slightly driven, all out fuzz, octaves, choruses - the rig was always there, full blooded and present. I was very happy with the way it handled everything, it absolutely nailed the tone I have in my head without any additional EQ after whatever the HX was doing (which was sometimes absolutely nothing!). Wonderful
  9. Crappy pic but the first proper (as in loud, no PA support!) outing for my TE-1200. It delivered, and then some. Cracking amp, hopefully it wasn’t a one-off haha
  10. Ah man I’m so sorry to hear that - hope you’re doing ok. I just turned up and was loud like normal 😆 Was a great proper debut for the TE-1200 head and I borrowed a friend’s bass to give it an airing, worked beautifully. Take it easy dude x
  11. All the best for a speedy recovery and no nasty lingering effects!
  12. Did the place fall down shortly after the pictures were taken? 😆
  13. Would be ace to see it with the EQ on but all set at 12 o’clock 🤓 Would love to get my Glock tested in this way too!
  14. Out of interest is that RM500 graph set with the EQ "in" or "out"? If it's "Out", what does it look like with the button "in" but all controls at 12 o'clock?
  15. Me included
  16. Mark Gooday at Ashdown admits that their preshape button is "the wrong way round" so the amps sound great at low volume in the shop!
  17. Ralph’s had Covid I believe, so probably not been actively on here a while. Have you PM’d him?
  18. Good point @Dan Dare - I use my Glock (a Blue Rock, a forerunner of the Steamhammer) with Barefaced Two10 cabs, so more of a coloured tone than the PJBs.
  19. The Glock can, you just work the EQ and drive controls and it will do pretty much anything you want. It’s an immense amp, really well thought out. I can’t comment on the Thunderfunk but knowing its lineage I’m sure it has some wonderful versatility
  20. Agree. Sometimes I want clean and uncoloured, sometimes I want the amp to impart something extra. In this aspect the Glock can do everything whereas the Trace may be a little more limited … hence no decisions yet
  21. I’ve used loads of amps through the years - Ashdown, Eden, Hartke, GK, Trace, Glock… class A/B, D, valve… All have their own tonal tints and hues, the Glock being the most transparent/flat with everything at noon. I’ve found recently that the way I EQ that to my liking creates a tone very very similar to the Trace TE-1200 set “flat”. As @BigRedX says, find the one with the base sound that you like and use that. For me at the moment that seems to be the Trace, but I’m not making a rash decision yet because I’ve spent the last 15 years doing that 😅
  22. Will potentially entertain sensible monetary offers, especially if able to collect/meet at the SE Bass Bash on Oct 23rd
  23. Thinking “what am I doing all the way up this end of the fretboard?”….
  24. The FOR SALE list - please copy and add to it as you see fit: 1. Merton - ACG Mule, chambered short scale fretless, £1600 2. Merton - Warwick Rockboard ISO power supply with lots of different leads, £70 3. Merton, Barefaced One10 with official cover, £300 4. 5.
  25. Hopefully you have enough time to still recover but totally understand - hope you get better soon
