1. I think Mr Beneath It All doesn't necessarily come on here every day, so give him another 24hrs! Good cabs, these. If this one doesn't work out, the_house123 has the same cab for sale, which was my old one
  2. I know what it is, and have seen the pics already Think Westfield but half the price
  3.
I would but we are already booked..... Please bear us in mind for the future though Nick.
Same here But have a good one whoever does do it!
  4.
And don't ignore BC's own secret weapon, Barefacedbass. Interesting thanks. Does anyone on here own a Barefaced? I would be interested to hear their comments.
Don't own one but currently have the prototype Big One in my possession. It's f-ing awesome. As is the Compact, which I think, as his website says, is the best 1x15 I've heard bar none
  5.
In your opinion of course! My brother has a Mackie Fusion system... 14k with a 7k foldback system. NEVER given him an ounce of trouble. Require a small army to shift though. Active systems are great but if one amp blows, you're pretty f***ed. If you do get and active, make sure you can bypass the internal amps and bring a rack of amps... just in case (sort of defeats the object really!). Personally, I've got a HK Audio ELIAS system which currently has a fried PCB on one of the amps. Just haven't got round to ordering the new board yet. However, when fully functional, it's a great PA. Crystal clear and really easy to shift about. They come up know and again on the bay, usually for around £1k for the older model.
+1 The only issue we've had with Mackie is when someone stuck a pole through the sub's cone....
  6. Prob gonna keep the 4x8 now - had a good chat about it with Nic, and Tinman and Mrs Tinman both said I should keep it, so f**k it. I'll just be broke Also got a 2007 Trace 1518 now, it's the best 1x15 cab of theirs I've heard. And it's light
  7. Yum yum, that's what I think
  8. Matt Matt Matt Matt Matt.... Do you need any more Trace gear? Do you? Hmmm? Ahem. Top bloke yet again! The Trace badge will be in the post in an hour

  11. V nice indeed!
  12.
Nice. More crunchy sound with that limiter off though!
But I like the blue LED!!
Sheesh, that was quick mate. How's it sounding? Had a quick (very low volume) fiddle with the V Type.....I think it's going to be amazing.
It sounds great. So much more bottom end than the old style 1518s, it's going to be brilliant when I get to crank it at a gig. It's a really smooth sound in comparison to the V-Type combo's cab so will take a while to get used to the lack of 100Hz but it will sit really really nicely in the mix either on its own or with the 4x8 cab (hehe, cheers for the advice on that one!) Glad you're liking the first impressions of the V-Type

Just traded my V-Type combo for Pete's Trace 1518 cab. Winners all round! Pete and Terri are both lovely peeps and it was quite simply a pleasure. Cheers, hopefully catch you guys again soon
  14. Here is my LH500 atop my latest acquisition/trade:
  15. Here's my updated rig: Hartke LH500 Trace 4808 V-Type cab Trace 1518 Only tried it at bedroom levels but it sounds awesome. The 1518 goes so much deeper than the older Trace 15s. Nice!
  16. Mike is the proper dude, he's such a nice fella. When he still ran the Bass Merchant I bought a Trace cab off him, he took me into the workshop and showed me every single bass in production, going over all the intricate details of each one. Didn;t need to, I didn't even ask, but he did it as part of the experience. It was awesome
  17.
As someone who's read since the age of 7, reading is second nature to me, but I think it's all down to the particular situation you find yourself in. If you're mainly playing in 3 chord tricks with rock/blues bands, you'll pick a lot up without reading. So in this particular situation, perhaps it's not as necessary? But in my own case, I can drop into any playing job, sight read the parts in any style. How useful is that?! Makes me ultra employable. But again, this is from the standpoint fo a professional musician. If you're back in the pub band, perhaps it's not going to be as important to you? From a technical standpoint, I loathe tablature. It's great for getting the novice playing things they like to hear, but it completely bipasses sound fingering techniqes. I see so many bass players who could be sooo good but are held back by a total lack of technique. If they took the trouble to read & work through a good db tutor book, they would be open to so many more possibilities on this front. The problem I had in my late teens was actually the total reverse. I'd never played anything I hadn't read, so when it came to playing in bands/at jams, I had to start from scratch and learn to improvise. So if you're always wondering if you should perhaps take a stab at reading, go on - Have a go! Rich.
+1 to all that - I've been reading muzak since I was 6 I think, bass clef since 11
  18.
Double headline tour with me in Helloween circa Keeper of The 7 Keys Part I? I'd even grow me hair back. And use an 8x10 if needs be.
Let's do it. Though I may draw the line at the 8x10...

  20.
That's as it should be
21. Somewhere between none and not enough sadly, life is just getting in my way But I doodle on my acoustic bass a fair bit, not serious practice though. EDIT (read the full first post Mert!!) I play live a lot more than practicing...
  22. First GAS of 2009, well on Sunday I'm meeting up with Tinman to swap Trace Elliot gear And I'm having a chat to someone about a V-Type preamp, the one thing I have said I'd do anything to get my mitts on... Not sure if it'll happen or not, but we'll see. Other than that, no new arrivals on the bass/amp front this year[sup]*[/sup], just MiniMert in April *unless the MikeyR 5 string singlecut multiscale is finished this year, of course!
  23.
Cheers! I wish it wasn't THAT heavy! BTW I'm waiting for a used Ritter Classic fiver to arrive this week and it's only going to weigh about 4 kgs:
Nice! Does that mean you can sell me the Wal 5er for 50p? £1?
  24. My theory is OK. Not great, but not non-existant. I really want to practice and work on it, but finding the time is next to impossible, and this is before MiniMert arrives!! God knows what will happen then I often feel like my playing suffers because my theory isn't too hot - it's a weakness and I am embarrassed that it's not as strong as it should be.
  25. Oooh, that's nice. I miss my Groove 5
