Collected the DB today, I decided to go for Innovation super silver strings. I reckon the guy did a decent job on the bridge and it is what it is. Labour charge £50, I made sure he was good for a few beers 👍 Just need to hone my mediocre skills now 😁

As it appears that the incident has been reported the local fire authority, they will be there soon enough to carry out a fire risk assessment. As an ex firefighter with 10 yrs service, I've experienced the aftermath of some terrible incidents. The smell of burnt flesh never really does leave you. For the sake of a few quid, it's just not worth the risk.

Dropped off the Stentor this morning. The chap said that the bass is in good condition apart from the bridge, which he assured me will be sorted without the need for a replacement. I've left it at the shop, dropping off a set of Innovation silver slaps when they arrive. When I mentioned rockabilly, there was a slight snort of derision. I told him that I thought he had a ridiculous looking moustache (each to their own). We laughed. All is good 👍

Reformed the function band after a 3yr break, albeit with a fresh lead guitarist. We had four rehearsals to get up to speed for the local pub festival / charity event. It was a great success, sounded fantastic and had 'em up dancing from the off of the 90 min set. Good to be on the trailer with the guys and gal again. I do ache a bit today though 😄

I didn't, it's a 2006 model sourced from Bass Direct a while ago. Sounds wonderful 🙂

I hadn't owned a fretless for over 30 years. Now have these beauties and loving them.
