  1. Hahahaha, that would be amazing, i think they would sound very metal, and metallic
  2. WIsh i could go see them but have tickets to Behemoth the same night in London...:( next time though
  3. It's a weird one, one of those legend custom 5 bubinga top with emghz and a 2 band preamp with 2 volumes which is very frustrating, need to get home and see, but i think it's got the b-30 or the tonepump junior in there
  4. Thank you so much, I'm very interested, will have a look tonight, and will drop you a PM as soon as i can confirm what mine has loaded, even though i am pretty sure it's a modified EMG B-30 and i'm just not completely happy with the sound it produces.
  5. Hi, interested in one of these for my Korean Spector, can you confirm what pot config you have on that preamp? Is it volume volume bass treble or volume pan bass treble?

  7. Thank you for that, I've been looking at the D'addario's, just never had a good experience with them before, will give them another try, and will look into the the TI's as well. Cheers
  8. I've got a Legend Custom 5 Bubinga neck through with upgraded hardware, got it in a deal on fleabay, and i love the neck on it, so much so that i am seriously considering trading my Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5 string broadneck for a Euro 5 (hint hint hint to anybody who has one). The shape of the body is amazing, would love a Rex Brown 5 but if and when one pops up i will probably still be in debt and not afford to get it The Legend has a great tone and feel, but it weighs a ton, will post a pic with the Spector and the significantly more expensive copy later on today
  9. Thanks guys! Asked a friend of mine who uses La Bellas and apparently they are tapered, i might just need to ask Mark from Bass direct and see what they have in stock, as i don't want to buy sets of strings, open them and then wallow in disappointment :))) and try and sell them for less. Normally i would just buy and try but money is extremely tight now and i am just looking for a sure thing.
  10. Hello all, i have been looking online like crazy, for the past ciuple of years on my fretless i've been using rotosound flatwounds, and the B is tapered at the ball end, my bass is a 5 string warwick streamer, so my action is all weird, and so is intonation and feel, i also play half a step down so A# and so; so i am looking for a set of decent flats for a 35 inch scale, with a 2 piece bridge, so no taper on the ball end, and ideally no taper on the nut side either. From your experience, can you guys recommend one or 2 sets of flats that i can try?
  11. I always found that DiGiorgio, whilst a pivotal sound in Death's development to a Progressive Death metal band, i always found that it was a bit farty sounding, especially on Human not really drowned, just the frequencies not the right level, but it got better sounding There's quite a few fretless players nowadays, especially in metal and in the new tech death genre, similar to Obscura's stuff with Jeroen, i would recommend Beyond Creation and Augury, basically any project that Dominic Lapointe was in, he has a very characteristic tone. Quo Vadis from Canada put out an album in 2004 called Defiant Imagination, the legend says that DiGiorgio recorded bass on the album, but Lapointe played it live and on their DVD Defiant Indoctrination. There's another younger player who took Lapointe's place in Beyond Creation Hugo Dodon, who is also a fretless aficionado, and he plays a fretless Kiesel with fret markers(not a big fan of markers, i love me an unmarked slab of wood) And another bassist i know of and follow that just slays on fretless is Joe Lester from Intronaut, the guys is good. in more recent tech death bands there's a tendency to use more fretless, usually 5-6 strings, it is more melodic, less to no clank(not like Webster from Corpse), and i think that's the appeal. i could talk about this for hours, most of the bands i listen to now have implemented at least a little fretless in their sound in recent years.
