Login issues and being logged out issues....
rwillett replied to rwillett's question in Site Issues and Questions
I think it's a 1Password issue. If I do it manually it works fine. I suspect 1Password is triggering the wrong button. I'll look at it now. Rob -

Login issues and being logged out issues....
rwillett posted a question in Site Issues and Questions
I've moved to 2FA, no big deal, use it for 19 other applications not including work. However I have noticed that I am being logged out after a short while, circa 30 mins or so without me doing anything. I can't see anything in the settings to indicate an auto-logout. I do run Firefox with a large number of privacy extensions but nothing there has changed for months. I also note that when I do login, the login page thinks I'm trying to use Facebook login <spit> rather than my Basschat login. Then I got back and it uses my Basschat login, not sure why. I don't use the Facebook at all. I nevre click on the button. Not the worlds worse problem. System is Mac Mini running Sonoma 14.5 and 1Password, which might (or might not) have something to do with it Is it just me or are other people having issues? Thanks Rob -
This weekends job was to wire up the control panel. I carefully thought about what to do and decided to be a little adventurous and do a slightly more complex wiring job and have a push pull knob to switch the pickups from series to parallel. The wiorking diagrams look easy enough, so ordered some decent CTS pots, fabric covered wire, a high quality and expensive CTS 250K push pull pot and 300 capacitors as it wasn't much more expensive than ordering 2-3. So if anybody needs any capacitors, just ask. First problem was the overall depth of the push/pull switch. It was a mm or so too deep, but some careful rejigging of positions, I managed to get it to fit (for some defn of fit). However, the big problem is the knobs I have are all around 19mm tall, and the CTS switch really pushes the knobs high. I can't push the shaft any lower as that pushs the base of of the knob too low. Its a compromise that currently sees me eyeing up the Dremel to carve a mm or so out of the plastic CTS casing. Any suggestions as to where I can get taller knobs, 22mm or higher welcomed. Thanks Rob

Sure, I'll export it and pop it up later. Any particular file format preferred?

I have just done the outline of a Telecaster Deluxe 72 in Fusion 360. If you want it, I can export it in PDF and send that up, do with it what you will then The curves are pretty well spot on, I'm going to use it to replace my very first 3d printed guitar which was kinda Telecaster Deluxe shaped. Ah. Sorry I've now gone and have to head back to NW Yorkshire in 15 mins. The Revo was very nice though -

I'm in RWB Guitars now. It's a lovely guitar, the profile is great for me and it's a 44mm nut. Plays very well indeed. I.like it I like the Gibson EB0 but banned from buying it -
Or in other words, "Capitalism"

I'Ve played played a protype Les Paul from them and it's a very, very good guitar, indeed so good I brought it for my daughter to play. I tootled around on the other basses and they were great guitars, I don't recall thinking they were crap but I had my eye on a Rickenbacker at the time but we couldn't agree a number so my attention was a little unfocused. RWB Guitars in York have a lot of them in stock and good prices. They are also happy to haggle (a little). If you give Geoff a call and he has one in stock, I've no doubt he'll measure it for you. Really nice decent bloke I may go there tomorrow or may not depending on what t'other half says. Suspect not though 😩 -
Does anyone know of any pubs doing gigs in Bridlington or Scarborough area weds 31st July or Thursday 1st August? T'other half said she'd like to go to a pub gig so I've looked but there is not a lot happening as far as I can see. Any pointers welcomed. If anybody here is playing, let me know. Thanks Rob

We come to York regularly as t'other halfs family is here. I do know that Fulford village hall is easily available.

There was the NW Bass Bash that was in North Yorkshire in May. We may be on the top NW of Yorkshire but we are in Yorkshire. Clapham, a few miles NW of Settle. We had people come from a fair old distance. I think @neepheid was probably the longest traveller and he came down from North of the Artic Circle. A true gentleman and welcome to come down anytime. I'll probably organise another one but there seems to be no appetite for a six monthly one. Rob

That sounds great. Fancy doing Bridlington...?

Funny you should say that..... -
That approach has served me well but I thought I'd actually try and learn how to use it properly for once. I learnt Fusion 360 the hard way and still have issues at times so whilst away on vacation, I'm watching the Logic Pro videos previously suggested. I want to understand the foundations of how Logic Pro works and what a sensible work flow would look like. I will ask questions but I want to have at least a grounding before I do so

You could think of this as evolution in action. Sadly you get stuffed by it, and for that I'm sorry. I think you did the right thing and pulled out. Hopefully every other band pulled out as well and she had a ended up with an empty tent. Once you set the precedent of playing for nothing, that's what they'll expect from now on. At least she didn't say you could play for "exposure". Best wishes Rob

Am away on family holiday in Bridlington for a week. Father in law rented large house and theres three generations of family here in Bramston. The intention was for somebody else to bring my bass and my daughters guitar along from our house, and I'd teach her some more chords and by end of week we'd write and play a simple song. Just to clear, this was just about having some nice time together not to storm the charts. Our car was full so we asked him. Sadly aforesaid bloke, forgot to bring bass and guitar and I'm not doing a seven hour round trip back home, Bridlington doesn't appear to have a music shop selling instruments, Gumtree has nothing cheap I can buy to play with, and it's now Sunday. So I've ordered a cheap keyboard off Amazon, Necktar LX25+, I have never played keys in my life, so thought I'd learn a bit, I have my Macbook and Logic Pro (whatever the latest version is) but have only used Logic Pro for recording bass and guitars in as simple a manner as possible. I much prefer printed manuals and books but sadly the way of the world is that it's all video now. So does anyone have any recommendations for a Logic Pro video training course please. I don't mind paying for it so long as it's a good course but there appears to be around 56 million courses out there and I can't sort out the signal from the noise. I can probably work out which keys play G, C and D for a song as my youngest has done a few piano lessons. Any pointers very much welcomed. Thanks Rob

Wow, that is tight. This is where an Ibanez Mikro comes into its own. Not sure you could even turn round with a normal bass. Well done. Dead impressed

Completely off topic but If you want to hear what loud really is, stand next to a Top Fuel dragster when they start it up. You can forget 1000W amps or PA towers, or Motorhead or a Jumbo Jet engine. Nothing prepares you for how loud a v8 supercharged dragster running nitromethane is when it starts up. I was standing next to the exhausts and I certainly wasn't ready, I jumped in the air and almost soiled myself. My dad couldn't stop laughing and almost had a heart attack, along with about 100 other people who knew what to expect and had ear protection. As a 15 year old I could have died of shame and embarrassment. If there is a sound of the gates of hell being opened, this was it.
