  1. New backup bass incoming This will be my Player Series backup PBass Squire Classic Vibe 60’s PBass
  2. Great as this bass is I think I really prefer the larger PBass neck. As I’ve removed the plastic off the pickguard etc instead of returning to the store I’ve put it on EBay for a quick sale. Opportunity for someone to pick one up with a small saving on new cost
  3. I really liked the PF800 head. Tried the PF500 and it felt a little underpowered I was looking to buy one again but they are hard to find in stock PMT showed one but they couldn’t find it !!
  4. Well I’ve had the PF800 and they can sound similar to Ashdown To be fair I think most warm sounding amps with good EQ adjustments can sound like each other perhaps with the acceptance of the grind / drive Even my Orange Little Bass Thing can be made to sound the same
  5. Very little a service would benefit a class D amp Save your money and buy a low cost back up amp or DI pedal for backup via PA Most major faults on class D results in the amp being not viable to repair
  6. I think the RM112 cab on its own would really struggle
  7. Personally I use 212 with my ABM600 head
  8. I did wind the pickup down slightly but made zero difference so returned it to how it was approx 6mm away from open strings I recall Interesting you run your treble turned down, I tried that and it was very a muffled sound so not for me as like a brighter tone. Still happy as it makes a decent sound
  9. Update … I tried the volume control around 80% and it did sound better and clearer I think this newer generation Sub4 doesn’t suffer as bad the earlier that had very hot pickups fitted and could distort the signal out of the bass.
  10. Another vote for Dave Green Great guy and great service
  11. I was running treble control on full and bass control either at centre or slight boost Good idea about backing volume slightly I can try that Don’t forget this is the low cost Sterling Sub Ray4 so I suspect it’s a low value preamp or pickup perhaps ? I did have the pickup raised more on the treble side but I’ve put it back to being parallel now.
  12. It’s the 2 band EQ Sub Ray and low cost pickup ( ceramic ) and budget pre amp. Still decent sounding but happy it’s only my backup bass
  13. Ok had rehearsal and used the Stingray ( thankfully into a compressor to keep the boosted signal in check ) Its an ok bass, plays nicely with reasonable tone BUT .. it’s not anything as clear and punchy as my PBass. It was purchased as a spare back up bass so I’m happy it does the job.
  14. In stock @ Thomann £377
  15. This is definitely a good deal as it comes with a case / bag as well I have this amp and it’s a very nice bass head
  16. My set of 7150 ML that I put on my PBass are still sounding good after nearly two months of weekly band rehearsal and home play. Im liking them more and more and they hold their tone for a decent length of time
  17. Definitely Ashdown for reliability and service ( when required ) Some good bargains to be had and find a 500w if you can Ampeg PF350 ok but Ashdown would be better I feel There’s an Orange Little Bass Thing for sale on here that is a superb amp head and would also make a great choice Ive owned Ampeg PF800 nice amp and PF500 new last year but sent it back as a bit underpowered. I own Ashdown ABM600 and they are superb amps and my spare amp is the Orange Little Bass Thing which is very loud and nice sounding. You are also right some of the older Ashdown stuff was a bit hit and miss. That Original head is a decent sounding head according to the reviews etc.
  18. Sansamp will work perfectly Dont drive the amp input too hard ( VU into red only on loudest notes ) and set amp roughly flat. The drive on the RM amps is a bit harsh and don’t use the compressor as it’s useless!! Set your EQ up on the Sansamp with a tiny bit of pedal drive blended in will sound good. You might find with a band a second cab will really make a difference
  19. An external preamp pedal can help .. I tried a few and it made a nice difference Fender Downtown was nice Ampeg SCR-Di - very nice MXR nice Set amp flat and tweek EQ
  20. The Neo cabs are very good and you need to work on the EQ to not make them too boxy sounding. They sound very different close up compared to a few feet away
  21. Dave told me they warrant all Ashdown products regardless of age or owner. I called about a five year old ABM600 and he said no problem and sent me FOC spare parts .. that really is service
  22. Nice song … has a country vibe kind of thing going on
  23. Ashdown RM500 head and ( to start with ) and Ashdown 115 cab You should be able to do that for approx £600 and have a great rig When things progress add a second cab
  24. I actually like the notched controls. I recall when Dave Green posted me a new output pot for a secondhand ABM600 he asked if I wanted stepped or non stepped. I chose stepped and it’s really simple to swop on the ABM but not sure about the RM series
  25. The Led changes colour from green to red if overloaded input signal My RM800 never went red !!
