  1. Not easy to source but found some on EBay
  2. I just had these arrive and I’m very pleased how they feel and sound Warm full and punchy is how I would describe them and the little dish recess where your thumb sits ( feels odd at first ) seems to add to the tone as does the Delrin material
  3. Have you tried it in a different electrical socket ? Mains hum perhaps ? Presumably it makes that noise with no input ?
  4. Why is it you don’t hear much about these amps ? Have they been a flop ?
  5. Yep there’s a careful technique getting them out ( a pick sometimes works ) I gave some spares I think, Ashdown sent them and they are happy for users to swop valves etc and it doesn’t affect your warranty
  6. Yes that seems to be the direction folk are going Many heavier cabs sold off and a few amps but not so many bread and butter brands in class D Ashdown Ampeg Orange GK MarkBass
  7. Seen many cabs for sale in the BC classifieds but so few amps Is this a trend ?
  8. My new ABM600 when I got one had a slight noise ( had a new valve from stock ) Swopped it for a another JJ ECC83 and the problem went away
  9. Preamp valve perhaps ?
  10. JJ pre amp tube ECC83
  11. Nothing worse staying in the wrong band ! Tell them asap and move on
  12. If they are as awful as the Debut guitar version avoid !
  13. And if you plug straight into the fx return do you hear anything ? That will check the power amp section is good
  14. Pop a lead in the send / return loop Push in and out a few times then leave it in ie send to return bridged that will fix it perhaps ?
  15. I had used Vanderkley too although the new MB58 series cabs are in my opinion much clearer sounding than some older MarkBass cabs
  16. Andertons are great however they don’t like too many returns as sometimes they end up as B stock items I have had my share of goods and returns and their service is awesome but be careful of sending too many items back as they do react after a while
  17. Good choice and top tip the RM has a speaker defeat headphone button on the rear. Caused many worried owners to think the amp was dead !!
  18. Yep good idea TE Elf is very good but may struggle into only 8ohms ?
  19. I have the MarkBass LM IV and chose it over the 58R because it has a metal case not plastic There is a Laney Digbeth 500H for sale on here too As Lozz suggest perhaps the new Peavey is a good choice I had the Orange LBT and it’s a great amp and warm sounding I play rock / pop / indie / punk
  20. That’s a good point My aim of using a pick was to sound fuller ( as achieved with fingers ) but with the variation in tone and dynamics that a pick can only give in my opinion. The finger played tone has a warmer fuller depth to the sound as example Living on a Prayer never sounded right played with a pick but more right with fingers but then other songs such as Don’t Believe a word, Basket Case / American Idiot sounded better with a pick To save changing methods during a gig ( also changing EQ, volume etc ) making one method suitable for all is tough. I found I could do every song with fingers and some sounded wrong and when I played all songs with a pick the tone was on some songs lacking in fullness
  21. Resurrection this thread and I’m using the LM IV and it definitely works for classic and modern rock. The old school control allows warmth and vintage feel I think they pair well with their own cabs as the EQ frequencies are different to other brands Playing a PBass with a pick with mine and it sounds good Previously I’ve used Ashdown and Ampeg and it’s definitely as good if you want your actual bass tone to shine
  22. They must be a brand for the USA as not seen them in UK
  23. I like the JD Delrin 500 in 1mm and 1.5mm and they are very grippy Normal teardrop shape
  24. Also what sounds lacking in isolation can sound perfect with the band Definitely helps if you tweek the EQ to pull back some of those massive increase in mids when you use a pick Some songs it works but I’ve found reducing mids slightly works but don’t overdo it as you then get buried in the mix
  25. Yep the RM series are great amps for sure
