1. Your profile doesn't say where you live, but if you're in the UK then BassDirect are doing a couple of secondhand MarkBass combos.Click here. (Including a 2x10 wedge thingy.)

 5.
Does anyone know when they are out to play. I got one eye on the oil finished Corvette, but dont know where or when to get my hands on one. Any news?
They're in the shops in the US, but I asked this very same question on the Warwick forum and nobody's replied with a date for the UK. The thread is here.
 6.
Does anyone have any experience of this Micro-VR head and SVT-210AV cabinet set up? Basically it's just a compact solid state head and 2x10 speaker combination. What appeals to me is it's compact nature and, comparative, light weight (my current SWR combo is 80 lbs, not including the extension cabinet which is another 80 lbs). Experiences and thoughts appreciated.
The latest edition (Winter Special 2009) of the UKs 'Guitar and Bass Magazine' voted it the Winner in the best bass amp of the year category.
 7. Oops - the active ones do have gold MEC written on them, not red. My bad.
 8.
A popular misconception about Warwick basses! The active/passive push/pull pot only helps in the event of a dead battery on the basses equipped with the $$ system. The active Streamers, Dolphins, Corvettes etc. are not truly passive in 'passive' mode. To test; remove the battery from one of those basses and you get nothing, nada, zilch, they don't work. They require battery juice for the actual pup as well as the preamp EQ.
Not so for Corvettes, I'm afraid. I've a Bubinga Corvette with the passive silver-script 'Dynamic Correction' pickups and active 2-band pre-amp and I've just taken the battery out and it works fine with the volume knob pulled up in to the passive position. What you say is true for the MEC red-script active pick-ups, which Corvettes don't have. I use it in the passive position for our more modern songs and in the active position (with bass boosted and treble cut) for the old swing numbers - very versatile.
 9. A 'line in' connection usually connects to the amps power stage, missing out the pre-amp, not directly to the speaker.
 10.
Hi, as title suggests, It's time for a new matched QUAD of output tubes for my AMPEG V4BH. So SUGGESTIONS please!!!! I'm tempted to go for the JJ 6L6GC's as I've used JJ's before & they've been good. It's got the original tubes it came with - SOVTEK 5881's - in it at the moment. They've been going fine for 3 yrs or so, but it's starting to sound a bit dull & has a li'l less output than it did. Anyone recommend any OTHER tube than the JJ's??? If so- why?? Thanks, Rod
Watford Valve's most recent test of 6L6 valves (2005) said this in its conclusion: 6L6GC/5881 BASS GUITAR TEST RESULT CONCLUSIONS. One valve was the clear winner for the bass guitar tests. For depth and clarity and the most headroom the Philips 7581A was a long way a head of the pack. In the Boogie The Philips 6L6WGB sounded great really and fat sounding, but put these in the Fender 135 bassman and the distortion is to early, giving fat too much midrange. The TAD 6L6WGC-STR was also suffering from the same problems The best current production 6L6GC for bass was a close call between the big bottom end of the Harma 6L6GC and the nice top end punch of the original Svetlana/ winged C 6L6GC. In the end the nod was given to the original Svetlana / winged C for the simply reason the in the most common bass amp applications of 100 to 135 watts. Most bassist would struggle in terms of volume. So the extra headroom of the Svetlana/winged C 6L6GC could save the day. Full report...here. This is their 1998 bass guitar valve test report....here. Hope this helps your choice.
 11.
Mmm, very nice OTPJ! Im wondering, do I want a maple or rosewood fretboard? I get on with rosewood, but suppose it would do me in good stead to try maple as well. Any major differences?
It sounds silly, but Fender's habit of putting the white side-dots half-and-half between the rosewood and the maple make them very difficult to see on a darkish stage for me with my poor eyesight - and I've found that very important. The black side-dots on the maple board instruments are much easier for me to see. YMMV
 12.
yes, already seen the rockbass $$...now that's a stunner another one for my gas shortlist?...if they're in the same price range of the 3 mentioned above, hell yeah!
$700 in the USA. The new Rockbass pricelist is here, but it's in Euros - and the Euro is strong against the pound compared to the dollar at the moment.
 13.
The $$ is out of my budget unfortunately...I would really like to try them both, A-B them if possible but that's almost impossible, also, any thoughts on the Specor Legend, the custom one? Is it worth putting down on the list?
The new Warwick Rockbasses are now out and are visually identical to the German made ones - made somewhere else and no horrible 'RockBass' on the headstock- but they haven't made it to the UK yet as far as I know. They're getting good reviews from USA users on the Warwick forum here and pictures and details of the Corvette $$ are here. (Their images are all 'dynamic' so I can't post a picture from Warwick's web-site here. Sorry.)
 14. I've got the Warwick WCA112ND cab with the 12" Celestion Orange speaker in it - great mids, no oomph on the bottom E string. To be fair, though, Warwick does say that on their web-site and that it should be paired-up with the 15" cab if you want the full bottom end. I wouldn't know if putting the Orange 12" speaker in a different cab design to that which Warwick use could increase the bottom end, or if swapping the Orange for a Green in the same cab would achieve anything worthwhile - probably not!
