1. Bought a lovely Eden combo off Brian, top bloke, would be more than happy to do business with him again.
2. Just bought BarnacleBob's Overwater Perception, it was an absolute pleasure doing business with him, very highly recommended. Cheers Robert!
3. Mike bought my old Ibanez 5-string, very nice guy to deal with, no problems at all. Recommended!
4. I'm selling a 5-string Ibanez CTB-5 in all-black. I've had it for a couple of years but hardly used it at all. I got it it second hand thinking I'd like to try a 5-er but just can't get on with 5 strings!! It's in decent nick, no damage as far as I can tell, probably needs a new battery for the active pre-amp, has an un-opened pack of no-name-brand strings with it, and to be honest for the price its not worth posting it. I'm looking for somewhere around £40 and would definitely prefer collection (£20 postage on a £40 guitar seems a bit daft). The bass is in Swindon, Wilts by the way. Any questions, drop me a PM... Dave.
5. Hi -- really dumb question, I know, but... does it have any fret markers on the 'top' side of the neck? The neck looks gorgeous in the pictures, and then I realised that's partly because it has no dots. That might take some getting used to... cheers Dave.
6.
Those Yamahas are good basses, but would benefit from a quality outboard preamp. Not to interfere with any man's righteous GAS tho.
Looks like I've been busted... I guess I'm really suffering a spot of the old GAS, it's true. Fair point on the Yamaha not being an "amateur" instrument, I do love it, and I think it will really benefit from a good setup. I'll try that first, while I work on 'er indoors a bit more before splashing out on something else. cheers Dronny
7. I've been playing a Yamaha BB414 for some time now, lovely bass but very much an "amateur" or "beginner" instrument, and now I'm starting to notice the uneven-ness of tone across strings/frets, and the mediocre tone of the un-effected sound, and thinking maybe I should go for a better quality instrument. OR... should I try getting it set up professionally first??? But if I was going to replace it, and I don't have a lot of money to spend on a Wal, or a Warwick, or a Ric CS4001... would a Cort be a good buy? I was thinking the A4 looked nice. So, anyone care to offer an opinion? Dronny.
8. Just bought a Hartke combo from Adam, very happy with the entire transaction, he's very helpful guy and I would be more than happy to do business with him again. Highly recommended! Dave.
9. Wow, lot's of ideas there, thanks everyone so far. Somehow I think I'll stick with a wired one, it's interesting to see that no-one's saying "yeah they are the greatest thing since..." cheers Dronny
10. What tuner do you use? and why? I'm looking for something to replace my no-name eBay five quid lump of cr@p and would like some opinions if anyone has any prefernces, dislikes, warnings, etc, cheers Dronny
11. (Not sure if this should be in the "gear" section?) A simple question really, are those tuners that clip onto the head of the guitar/bass/whatever any good? eBay is full of 'em but there seems something inherently dodgy about the whole idea to me... dunno why. cheers Dronny.
12. I might be interested... what's the bottom end like (just wondering how a 2x10 compares to a 12 or 15" driver)? Please get back to me if you can and see if we can work something out, it sounds like a good deal. cheers Dave.
13.
What's your budget? Are you going to be using it for gigging? S.P.
Good questions (I should have put them in orignally!). Budget is £400 max. Gigging - yes, but usually with DI into a full PA as well.
14. (Just joined the forum, but I've been reading it for quite a while) I'm looking at getting a new combo, and have narrowed it down to 2 (I think -- but I keep changing my mind!). Ashdown MAG C115 300 or Fender Bassman 150 I really like the sound of the Ashdown, but the Fender has some nice touches (including the 'kickback' shape -- does anyone find that useful?) so I'd like some opinions if possible... so fire away! cheers Dave.
