2. Selling my trusty faithful old Hartke Vx410 4 x 10 cab, 400W at 8 ohms, these are well-respected old-school roadworthy 4x10 cabs, very reliable and powerful, lovely loud warm tone (paper cones, not aluminium). Looking for [s]£120[/s] [s]£100[/s] £75 collected from Swindon, Wiltshire, or will courier it for £25 anywhere in the UK. At a push, could meet up within 50 miles each way on the M4 (Cardiff/Reading) for a petrol contribution, if necessary. Pics (well, pic) attached. Updated 6/6/12 -- SOLD elsewhere, sorry.
3. Just bought Adam's Ashdown miBass 550, very nice chap to deal with, very simple and smooth transaction, with excellent communication. Highly recommended! thanks again for a great deal, Adam. Dave.
4. +1 for Tony Butler (Big Country) and Charlie Tumahai (Be Bop Deluxe), two excellent bass-players who also did BVs and really made their band's sounds.

Sold an ancient Impact valve head to Oli, very smooth transaction, a pleasure to deal with.
6. Looks like this is gone now, title amended to reflect this.
7. PM received already, potential purchase already underway! Wow, that was quick!
8. Selling this on behalf of a friend, managed to find out a little bit about it here:- http://www.edgaraudio.se/tubes/impact.htm and here:- http://www.soundcitysite.com/sc_webpages/p....htm#impact_1_1 And some photos (sorry about the upside down ness) here:- https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-GAMoDmxl...44/IMAG0137.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-p0RDeQva...44/IMAG0136.jpg Basically he's happy to let it go to a good home, it's apparently a "classic" and it does work (I have plugged it in and tried it) but beyond that we know very little about it, and it is probably best suited to someone who wants to play around with the hardware or something like that. I doubt it's "gig ready" although, as I say, it does work. Open to offers, really, so I'll say £50 if anyone wants to collect it from Swindon, Wilts.
9.
I have found, as I get older, that the reading allows for a more efficient use of time in rehearsals and at gigs. Less time rehearsing each tune means more work done in the available time. If you have other obligations as you say, this is a massive bonus. Learn to read music.
Darn it! I had a feeling someone would say that! Seriously, I am open to this if it's generally considered the best way to go. So, how would you recommend I go about it? I know enough to be able to sit down with a bit of (really simple) music and pick out the notes and manually count the time, but I guess I should start from the beginning, assuming nothing. Are there any 'standard' books that would be good to start with? Dave.
10. hi fellow BC'ers Quick intro/background: I've been playing bass since my teens, now in my late 40s, had a long gap of not playing until I got back into it about 5/6 years ago, now playing in 2 bands (one standard functions stuff, the other bluesy/rocky). I feel like my playing has reached a bit of a limit w.r.t. my abilities, or something... I have a reasonable grasp of the basics of theory, but don't sight-read. I want to improve, but with a full-time job, 2 teenage kids (and a dog!) I don't have a huge amount of spare time on my hands. Oh for the days of my youth when I could spend hours learning Rush tracks ;-) I'd like to put some time into improving my playing, I know this will probably involve scales and modes and such, but I'm really not sure where to start, and how to get the best "bang for buck" out of my limited time. TBH I don't think learning to sight-read will be a realistic goal, so I'm looking for other approaches. I'm really fed up with playing the same few blues fills and want to stretch myself a bit more. I've had "learn to play slap" as a new-years resolution for a few years now and never done it, so my track-record is pretty lousy. But I feel the pressure to do *something* new... All advice gratefully received! Dave.
11. Just bought Dave's Eden Nemesis RS400 head, very smooth transaction, very easy to deal with, highly recommended! Dave.
12. Cool, thanks everyone for your opinions so far, it tends to back up what I suspected (and the other band members who probably know much more about this than me), but I thought it was worth asking the question anyway. I guess the answer over is "no" overall.
13. My band has a few gigs coming up and we think we need a little bit of PA support for the kick-drum (but probably not for my bass). We have a PA with 2 active speakers, but no sub. We do have a spare PA-style power-amp, and I have a spare bass cab (a Hartke 4x10). We were wondering if we could use those 2 to give the PA a bit of extra "bottom"... but I'm unclear on whether the bass cab would be any use for this... Anyone got any thoughts? cheers Dave.
14. Just sold my Ashdown rig to Bob, lovely bloke, a pleasure to do business with. Dave.
15.
PM sent.
Negotiating details now, hopefully sold!
16. At the moment I'd really rather sell them as a pair, sorry. If I don't get anywhere with it I'll get back to you in a few days, but right now I'm holding out for selling them together... fingers crossed! Dave.
Dave I already have a 210 that I use with a 410 but really after 115 and Im only just over the Bridge. I can collect off you for £80? (its gonna be a tenner and bridge for me)
17. For sale -- my 2 bass cabs, an Ashdown MAG210T (2 x 10" drivers + tweeter) 200w/8ohms and an Ashdown MAG 115 (1 x 15" driver) 200W/8ohms. Both are the DEEP models, with carpet covering (not the vinyl of the newer models) and in good condition. In fact the 210T is in excellent condition, and has hardly had any use from me. The 115 has a little bobbling on the carpet covering (from the previous owner's cat, apparently) but its hardly noticeable and of course doesn't affect the sound! I'd prefer to sell them as a pair, and I'd rather not post them, simply due to the size/weight. Collection is from Swindon, Wilts, and I could drive up to an hour to meet up if necessary (for a tenner in petrol money). Asking £200 for the pair. Dave.
18. Just bought a lovely over-run Ashdown cab off Ade, a thoroughly top bloke, very helpful and accomodating, highly recommended. Dave.
19. BUMP just to ask the question again...
Any idea on the weight of it? I'm looking for something a little less back-punishing and this might be ideal...
