  1. There's actually a red 4 string on ebay, a '97 with Suhr electronics, with no bids at £669. I have no idea why no-one is biting. Looks like the same one on reverb and dropped to around £850. Markets are weird.
  2. Reading this post with interest in the engineering aspects. Quick question Kiwi: How much would a "neck-through" length neck cost over your regular scale necks that fit to different bodies? Couldn't you build a single neck length that people could sandwich between 2 pieces of a body shape that mimic their favourite body style, and then fit the correct scale fingerboard for their needs? Slotted bolt holes for the bridge could allow the placement to be made for the scale length of choice. Would the difficulty lie in the pickup placement spaces weakening the structure? Maybe you need a "distribution agent" in the UK to take delivery of several at once, reducing shipping and import fees to one shipment.
  3. Gods, this is gorgeous. I have a matching Jazz Deluxe from '98. That era is amazing. I'd have to chuck a load of stuff on auction to get the matching set though.
  4. Thanks @Dood, if my guy proves too expensive on his quote I'll give them a shout.
  5. It's still in US power supply config, so it's off to a tech. Anyone know where I can get a decent source of trim to replace what's missing?
  6. He sees a P-bass and he wants to paint it black.
  7. Are the necks like a jazz profile on these?
  8. Thanks folks. Yes that’s it then. I couldn’t see it on equipboard or anything unless it’s hidden in the comments.
  9. It's one of those things that people don't realise how good they are until they try them. I have two, need to sell one, and just can't believe they don't move as fast as they should on ebay or here.
  10. Hi Lefty, have you binned these yet? I have two Squiers I need to sell and ship.
  11. Ignore me, it's late and I'm a muppet. Didn't realise it's the same video because you linked a timestamp, and it's not the answer video. *sigh*.
  12. I saw the one you added on reddit. It had the 5 basses on it.
  13. This is the same price I paid for a VM 70's in 2011. And I probably got ripped off at that price because I knew nothing at all (first bass) and got it in HMV in Oxford st.
  14. She had the pickups replaced. https://youtu.be/hr7ScpVj1QY?t=1000 What's also surprising in the budget theme of the discussion, is that she doesn't have effects either, just a tuner. And in the video she says she uses it because it anchors her cable near the mic. I saw a local blues trio the other month, and the bassist absolutely nailed it. He was also using the SX jazz, also just the tuner and he didn't know about her. So in a week I found two people using exact same setups independent of one another. He was even just using the house amp, so none of that "This is my unique tone" kind of thing. Those SX guitars are bloody good. I just got a 5 string Warwick-alike the other day and it's probably £200 too cheap for how it plays.
  15. Is that not more due to the short scale of that bass combined with the pedigree, rather than the "budget"?
  16. I flipping called it! Not bad for a rookie player.
  17. What about a switching pedal like this, and stick the preamp DI box on the Line Out? https://www.thomann.de/gb/mooer_pedal_controller_l6_mkii.htm
  18. Someone sniped a Fender Cowpoke from me today, with 2 seconds to go.
  19. About 22mm
  20. Well it's 502 now. I'm guessing it's all 5, and he simply messed with tone and where he hit the string to prove that there is no one P-bass tone. There is no spoon!
  21. I'm in St Albans so can pop over quite easily. Would an evening or daytime collection work best for you? Also, how soon do you want it gone? In can do evenings in the next two days (11-12th Aug) or during daytime from Tuesday (16th) Cheers. Pete.
  22. Hello mate. Are you still trying to shift this or has he moved house already?
  23. Thank you so much. Do you have any background info on him or know where I can find more? I'm glad I checked. I was worried that someone had gotten the neck signed by a hero of theirs and I didn't want to just erase history like they did with the Squier serial. I'll do what I need to preserve it or make sure it ends up with someone that will appreciate it.
  24. I picked up a dirt cheap Squier JB that someone made a godawful attempt to add a fender decal to. Looked like my first airfix attempt. I got the guitar mainly to learn repairs and modding without risking my others, and was wondering if anyone knew the person who signed it. Wondered if there was any back story to them putting a bit of effort into making an Affinity look a bit like a much older jazz, like a '72 or similar. Probably just some teen but I was curious and thought I'd check around, before I sanded it down. Cheers.
